Xbox Please Add Support for USB Audio (UAC1/UAC2)

I originally posted this on r/xboxnsiders yesterday in the requests section for this week, April 9th, 2021. I also added a line or two.

I recently purchased the new Wireless Xbox Headset, and after using it most evenings since launch (I got mine two days after launch), the sound quality is ruining the headset for me. The rest of the futures on the headset are great, but the sound quality and soundstage for positioning are mediocre. For $100, the headset is an amazing steal for everything the headset offers, but I can't see myself keeping them long-term due to the overall poor audio quality. I've been fortunate enough to listen to headsets that offer great audio quality and soundstage in the past for gaming and music, but that was through an external DAC and amp combo connected to a PC. And these days, I do all my gaming on my new Xbox Series X. And I love using my SX because all my friends that I regularly play with are on Xbox!!

With that being said, Xbox, can you please add support for UAC1 and UAC2 for external audio hardware. Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 & 5, PCs, Macs, and even iPad/iPhone support these standards. I am NOT asking for Bluetooth capability or the opening of your Xbox Wireless protocol. Just asking for the ability to plug in quality audio gear (that supports UAC1 & UAC2) to have the best audio experience my budget can allow for. Again, not everyone can/will appreciate audio in the same way because hearing is a subjective part of our lives and some people won't care about that too much. Still, for those who really love our audio (and willing to invest in dedicated equipment for it), having support for USB Audio would only add to our gaming experience and make us love our time on Xbox that much more! It might be a smaller subset of the Xbox community that desires this functionality. Still, we are out there, and we want to play the games wholly immersed in the soundscapes that studios around the world have worked hard to craft for all players, including Player (1). Looking at you, Phil Spencer!

Power to the Player, or in this case, Audio to the Players!

I'd read reviews about the Wireless Xbox Headset and I'm sure I remember seeing one or two that said the sound out of the box with the headset wasn't great and that they had to pay for the Dolby Atmos plugin to really get the best audio out of the headset.

Not sure if you may want to look into this.

while it would be good to have usb audio supported i don't think they will.

also where are they beating all the competition in all other areas. the series x is mediocre at best and the series s is a hotplate with issues. and gamepass is trash beyond belief and you still have to pay to get through the paywall so you can access other companies paid for servers that xbox live cash does not pay for.

"the series x is mediocre at best" Mediocre at best compared to what? I mean its the most powerful console on the market, so not really seeing why you're saying that.

"series s is a hotplate with issues" I dont really know about this as I dont own a Series S, however a friend of mine does and he says he loves it, he hasnt had any issues and its certainly not "a hotplate"

"and gamepass is trash beyond belief" Really? how is it trash? you don't like playing some of the best rated games like Flight Simulator, Gears, Halo, Forza, Sea of Thieves, Battlefield and countless other amazing indie games. I mean if you only like playing CoD then that's fine, but you cant say Games Pass is trash, it just isnt.

Dont know anything about this but could you perhaps give some more information like what other companies servers cant you access without having Xbox Live Gold?

Absolutely, agree with you. If Microsoft adds (UAC1/UAC2) support I will certainly buy their Xbox Console right away. Schiit Company had talked with Microsoft about UAC support but they remained silent. Although, Sony took a really good care with PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 to add it. What's their problems to do that?

I agree and hope this is added in the near future. Between the PS5 not supporting 1440p and the Xbox not supporting UAC there's so many little issues with this new generation that degrade the experience.

Would love to see this functionality added as well. Really want to add the Schiit Hel 2 to my setup. Come on Xbox... You’re beating competition in almost every other area. Lets’s win audio too!
