I recently had to refresh windows but before doing so I moved all my games using the built in feature to move to external hard drive assuming that the new windows would recognize and avoid redownloading. Doesn't seem to be the case since I go to the store
and tell it the path to install and it proceeds to redownload despite the files being in that drive ( I can even see the files but cant do anything but delete them, tried calling support but nobody understood what I was talking about don't know that they even
had any technical knowledge).

steam, unity and even origin makes it easy to own my data and backup with ease!

Xbox Play Anywhere

Play Anywhere is one of my favorite features to come in a while. I just wish they could get all games working this way instead. Make it a platform thing. Games can work on any Xbox enabled device. That would be cool. Really looking forward to this with
Gears 4. Going to be nice having access to that game on both my console and PC with Xbox. Same if the wife wants FH 3.

It is cool that the PC adds PC type settings to improve upon things. Would be real nice if MS could get the MP working. I understand the keyboard/mouse vs controller. I am fine with that really since I do extremely well on PC shooters with a controller.
Actually better than on consoles. But MS could make it so that to do cross play you must have a controller detected and use that. Or you just play PC vs PC.

I do like the build smilekybird. I have an i7 that is 8 core and 16 thread in mine but not sure the number. 32 gb ram. I just put 2 480s in it crossfire since I will be using the 16 gb ram on those for some personal stuff. It amazes me how awesome those
are. These games should play amazingly on that. Would love to here from you on how the games run on your rig.

Something is blocking the files, its normal that xbox support could respond that, thats is technical support for windows 10 and not xbox.

Looks like you will need to reinstall all games over again, but to delete that old files you should contact microsoft support directly or try the microsoft forums only for the files that cannot be deleted. I will left the links here:

I found the files and cant do anything other than delete them. Ive tried copying them to another drive but tells me i dont have permissions etc. steam, unity and origin make it easy for its users to backup game files and restore with just a couple clicks
just feels like microsoft has a backend that keeps us from even owning the files, would be nice if they even offered hard copy at least!

 

But if you can delete them, you should because if windows doesnt detect will be hard to find a fix. You will need to delete them and reinstall again

Yes it does appear that your games will have to be reinstalled this could be a restriction put in place by the developers to avoid unpurchased game playing. (downloading your games to a drive and letting someone who does not own it try to use the content).
Also there may be an issue with compatibility with your newly refreshed windows being a different version. Reinstallation should resolve your issue but if the problem persists please set up a call back from support at

its still the same version of windows when its redone. for people who have data caps and slow internet speeds its not a very user friendly protection when all other game clients offer a way to backup and use their game files because they feel when you
pay for a game you own it!
