Xbox PC app stuck on "Checking for updates" preventing me from downloading any other game.

I found the fix, after a LOT of time. Go into windows safe mode (you can find online how to do that). Then go in file explorer and delete the download folders of the games you are trying to download, windows creates them in the directory you specified where you want you game to be downloaded. Restart the PC and when you normally boot into windows again it should be fine and you will again be able to download whatever you want. The gamepass is totally worth every cent that i pay for it but its really sad how comically bad their pc support is. All im saying is that its worth seeing past the bad pc support for all the extremly good content you receive i even upgraded to ultimate for the cloud gaming. To this day gamepass is the best purchase i ever made.

Remove and reinstall Gaming ServicesReinstall the Gaming Services app on your Windows 10/11 device:

Having the exact same issue was working fine tried to download something this afternoon it got stuck after about 2%. Now it searching for updates and can’t access any of my library or do anything with the app. Tried everything you mentioned everything is up to date windows 11.

Same issue here followed all the above recommended steps with no resolution. Brutal.

I have the exact same problem. I did everything on the list. Plus some other stuff. Nothing fixes this after HOURS of trying.

The problem first seemed to have occurred when I downloaded The Bard's Tale Trilogy through the EA AP after starting a download in the Xbox ap. Maybe.

Nothing will stop the "Checking for updates..." which stops the ap from doing anything at all. I even uninstalled all my games. Now I can't install anything or cancel pending installs.
