    Xbox PC App crashes upon startup


    Hi, I posted about this on r/WindowsHelp but didnt have any luck, so I figured i would try here.

    I noticed a few days ago that when I'd try to open the Xbox app, it would show the Xbox logo for a few seconds and then immediately close itself. It was pretty late when i first experienced it so i didn't really have the energy to troubleshoot it, so I figured maybe it would fix itself with an app or windows update so I waited a few days.

    I came back today and it was still doing it, so I tried going through all of the posts on YouTube, Reddit and the Microsoft Support Forums for solutions and none of them have worked.

    Here are the things I have tried:

    • Repairing and Resetting the Microsoft Store and Xbox App
    • Resetting/Resyncing my Date & Time
    • Restarting PC
    • Reinstalling Gaming Services through Powershell
    • Doing sfc /scannow and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    • Setting Xbox services startup type to Automatic
    • Running "Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}"
    • Disabling Bitdefender Antivirus
    • Uninstalling the Xbox app itself
    • Installing it through the executable installer (Gave me error code 0x80040904)
    • Disabling my DNS and VPN settings Doing ipconfig /flushdns, /release and /renew
    • Checking for a windows update
    • Deleting Xbox folders in %localappdata%
    • Resetting xbox registry entries

    I saw another post mentioning the Gaming Service Repair Tool. As i cannot open the Xbox app, I would have to install it through the downloadable version. However when clicking on the download link on this page, i am brought to a dead end. (DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN).

    I'm trying to do everything possible before having to straight up reinstall windows. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can fix this and regain access to the app that would be greatly appreciated, as I cannot access any of my Game Pass games while this is occurring.

    Some PC information:
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 4070 Super
    RAM: Teamgroup 32GB DDR5 6000MT/s
    Mobo: Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX V2
    OS: Windows 11

    Also, here's a gif of the error occurring.

    If there's a way I can provide logs or such of when it happens, let me know and I'll post them!

    Hello XR3,

    Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. If the IOS 13 is new, there may be compatibility issues with the Xbox app. We recommend to wait it out see if there is a patch in next few days either from apple or for Xbox app. Can try uninstall the app,
    restart your phone completely, once it back on then reinstall the app.

    Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I ran the troubleshooter but unfortunately it didn't find any problems. I restarted my PC for good measure, but the Xbox app still crashes on startup

    Hi Kathy.

    I had already tried a clean boot, including disabling all "enabled" apps from task manager startup tab.

    "Did a clean reboot by disabling all non-MS services in msconfig and startup."

    Anyway, I tried that again and the game still crashes with same error.

    Posted this on the Feedback Hub, including "Recreate my problem" step recording the crash live.

    I can't even make it to the friends list...

    My Xbox app, Xbox beta, and Smart Glass apps are crashing immediately upon launch, I see the green loading screen for a fraction of a second then crash. Very frustrating.
