    Xbox PC app beta issues/suggestions


    The new Xbox app is a step in the right direction but there are a few issues that could make it a bit better.

    1. Rename the app as Xbox PC rather than just Xbox, it's confusing and helps brand it clearly as a PC gaming portal.
    2. The way Xbox permissions are handled is poorly thought out, during loading screens or intro of a game an Xbox window pops up asking to authorize access to your Xbox profile, this should happen before the game loads or be a user toggle for global access or per title requests. No other gaming service does this.
    3. When browsing "Games I Own" add a capabilities filters so you can at least see what features you can filter by, Play Anywhere, VRR, HDR etc.

    4. Speaking of HDR many games that list HDR as a feature do not work, Halo Wars 2, Snake Pass, Sea of Thieves all mention HDR but nothing happens when connected to a HDR display (OLED B8), playing Shadow Warrior 2 on Steam properly invokes HDR once enabled in it's settings. There are a few Xbox PC titles that do properly invoke HDR like Forza Horizon 4 but a lot more testing of Xbox PC games needs to be done here, remove the HDR references from games which do not feature it or have an in game setting to force HDR output.


    5. The Xbox PC app should be allowed to load on startup and have a big picture mode for control via Xbox controller.

    Hi there,

    The only thing I could suggest is to see if installing the games from the MS store website or MS store app instead of the Xbox Beta app. As the Gamepass PC app is still in beta and that might be the issue.

    Thank you for creating a forum on this issue. The app is in beta version for PC currently so it might have some issues. I suggest logging out then back in. If that doesn't work try redownloading the app on your PC.
    Do you mean redownload the xbox beta or the game?

    Anyone use Xbox app on PC?

    All my chat history is gone except from the last few days of chat.

    Everything is ok on Xbox app Beta, Phone app and Console.
    So how come my chat history is missing on Xbox-app on PC, but everything ok on Xbox-app Beta on PC, Phone-app, Console and Xbox Game Bar? Only Xbox-app is missing chat history. Happened after last update.

    I can use Xbox-app Beta until the issue has been solved, but prefer the usual Xbox-app on PC.

    Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

    HOW TO UNINSTALL THE GAME (dont installed in the background😢 )

    If none of the suggestions work, then try uninstalling the Xbox (beta) app, then uninstall Gears 5. After that reinstall Xbox (beta) app. That should hopefully fix the issue.
