Xbox party issue: friends can hear an echo from my mic but I can't.

A short while ago I bought a new controller to replace one with some drift on a thumbstick. It also works wonders for volume since it gets past the greyed out volume settings for moly older controllers, which is great since I'm losing my hearing.

However ever since, my friends have told me that they keep getting an echo feedback from my headset. The controller is the Power A spectra infinity and my headset is the bengoo stereo headset.

We've all checked the usual settings to make sure we're not doing both headset and speakers as the audio options and I myself can't hear the echo when in the party.

Anyone know what is happening or any recommendations? I was tempted to try a new headset with the controller as a change.

Hi there.

Thanks for the advice however this hasn't resolved my issue.

When using the headset with a different controller, the echo doesn't occur, however then it is the issue with the volume being grayed out.

And when I check for firmware updates in the system, there aren't any available.

Thank you for letting me know. If that's the case, it's the controller itself and you may need to get it repaired or replaced.

For cases like this step that we have to perform is to try to use a different controller if there is an available one just to check if the same issue will occur. If there isn't please check if there is an update available for the controller that you're currently using. Please follow the steps below:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & streaming > Accessories, and then select the controller you want to update.

2. On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller.

3. If it says “Update,” select Firmware version, and then follow the steps provided.

If you can hear the echo of the party means that it's not originated by you, that would be someone else in the party that has the echo and it's the reason why you hear your self

If others can hear echo on their end but you can't, means you need to lower the headset volume and the Mic monitoring to reduce the echo

Keep the party chat open when talking and have your friends be quiet. Start making noise for a second and see where the echo comes from. If it's coming from you then you'll need to mess with your mic settings like the audio balance between game and party
chat.

However it sounds like the echo is coming from one of your friends. Also there's nothing you can do about the mic delay unfortunately. That's just a network thing and I've noticed when my friends and I talk there's a 1-2 second delay before we hear each
other.
