Xbox party chat too loud astro a40s

I have a pair of a40s with the mixamp and a series x. When I join a party games like pubg or warzone become unplayable because I can't hear any ingame sound except very soft gunshots. Even the planes which are generally deafening are extremely quiet only in a party. It's not the chat mixer as I can manipulate it to hear only party chat just fine but when I move it to hear only game volume I can still hear the party chat. I have optical audio wire connected to my tv and the issue seems to have came right around the time I downloaded Dolby audio for headphones. Firmware on the headphones is up to date and the issue makes me basically unable to play with friends in a party. Help is greatly appreciated. For reference I have adjusted the chat mixer completely and it seems to not effect game volume at all. I will be playing solo and the minute I enter an Xbox party chat lobby the game volume goes away almost completely. As soon as I leave the party I get full volume again. I have the same issue even for the Xbox menu when I scroll around outside of a party I hear the menu audio just fine. When I enter a party I can no longer hear when I scroll between anything in the main menu.

I have figured out the issue. For some reason when I have the option set to channel sound through both the headset and TV it really mutes the sound going to the headset for some reason. When I switch to headset only for party chat it instantly triples or quadruples the sound entering the headset. Not sure why but I am unable to allow my girlfriend to listen to my party chat while I play (it's less boring for her to watch when she can hear the people I'm playing with also).

Hello James, you've checked what kind of sound setting you have on your headset console, usually this happens when we have a stereo headset for example but the setting is for 5.1 or 7.1.

Go to your Xbox Menu, then settings and Audio output and Volume and check the audio options you have for headsets and try putting "Windows Sonic" if you don't have Dolby or DTS for the Headset.

Astro A40 TRs have zero game audio latency.

Still get an echo.

I noticed that the echo is much less in party chat with the A40 TRs though.

I'm taking the Turtle Beach headset back.
