1. Xbox Party Chat not Outputting through HDMI or Optical Audio

    Hey everyone!

As the title states I can't seem to get the "Party Chat Output" settings to change. If I have a headset plugged into my controller no matter what the "Party Chat Output" setting is set too, it only plays through the headset. I have it set to "Speakers" and
it only plays through the headset. I have a pretty normal setup with HDMI going to a TV and a normal headset with a mic plugged into an Elite Series 2 controller. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

EDIT: Its also worth noting that all other sound does come through both headset and speakers, party/game chat is the only thing that doesn't.

I have video but no sound

Have you checked the audio output settings on the console?

    Go to settings,

    select Display & Sound

    select Audio Output

and there you will see a choice of either HDMI audio or optical audio.

Check to make sure HDMI audio is selected

As if it`s set to optical you will not get an audio output through the HDMI cable.

maybe some Settings for Audio, Party Chat and or Changed the Output to HDMi or something else. Check the Audio Settings on Xbox and the Party+ Output Settings. i also had such an issue and it was the HDMI Audio Setting for me.

S/Pdif to RCA Audio Adapter for Xbox One

Xbox One has 2 outputs - one HDMI and one Optical Audio (s/pdif). HDMI carries both audio and video. But if you want to send your audio to a receiver that does not have HDMI inputs, then you can use the optical output from Xbox One. PS4 is exactly the
    same.

And William is right - if you try converting HDMI to DVI, you will lose the audio on both Xbox and PS4 (unless you are using the separate optical output for audio).

    Using SPDIF and HDMI Simultaneously
I'm trying to set up my Xbox to use HDMI and SPDIF at the same time. I don't want the audio to output through the HDMI, because then it just uses the monitor speakers. Is there any way to output audio through SPDIF while using HDMI?
Turn the volume on the monitor to 0, as I do with my TV if I'm using the optical audio being output to my receiver. You can't disable the HDMI audio.

Xbox one console- audio hdmi out only via seconde hdmi tv in

    Hello Proof,

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. There is no way for audio to be sent outward through the HDMI in. There is an optical audio jack and the HDMI out.

Only other options are in the audio output settings.

    Thanks,

    Brad
