Xbox OS support for FANATEC - more features of third-party input devices

Hello,

Since three years Microsoft is working on enabling proper functionality of FANATEC’s devices. With Forza Motorsport already launched, Assetto Corsa Competizione having cross play with PS5 users (who has FULL FANATEC’s wheels functionality) is there anything happening or there are no plans to ever change it?

This is the information provided by Fanatec: “Microsoft is in the process of opening up the Xbox OS to support more features of third-party input devices in the near future.”. This near future is already happening for 3 years (or more).

While all Fanatec wheels work on PC, you need an Xbox-licensed wheel for it to work on Xbox. The Xbox security chip required for the wheel to work on Xbox consoles is located inside the steering wheel itself.

Third party controllers designed and licensed for Xbox will work. Thrustmaster, PowerA, and more produce them

Xbox does not support Bluetooth devices at all.

What voteDC has stated is both true and correct. All Third Party Devices that represent a Mouse/ Keyboard Support are simply emulating the "action" from the Users End. They are not a True M/K Support and can only perform as well
as or more accurately less than an Official Xbox 360 Controller.

Here is why. The "emulator" needs to take the time to Convert the signal from the User to the Input of the Xbox 360 Controller. This takes more time then the Controller itself. In short, it's a gimmick only fooling the l33t. The Xbox 360 has no Drivers or Mouse/
keyboard Support and everything developed for it is done so with the Xbox 360 Controller at Default. This means in short, every Game itself is missing the Software required for a M/K Support.

Game-play and Controls are written from the ground up for each individual Platform and no "aftermarket" or Third Party Device will ever change that.
