Xbox only works in 680p or 4K UHD

Im having problems with my display. I normally run my Xbox One S on 1080p because it cant actually run 4k. I was having problems with my screen not being displayed anything. So i do the display reset and it works. I change to any other display and it
crashes and reverts back to 680p but when i try 4k UHD it works. Why cant i use any other displays without it crashing. Any ideas (software related or technical related)?

I have a iiyama: VA Matrix, 31.5inch 4K, monitor

Hi Mortal Soul101,

sorry to hear. If the problem suddenly occurs, the first thing I would do is replace the HDMI cable, as they often like to say goodbye. Then check if a recently installed update is causing this Problem (because settings are suddenly adjusted or not longer
available).

The only way to view your Xbox One at 4K UHD: Is to connect Xbox One HDMI Output to an A/V Home Theatre Receiver capable of upscaling 1080p output via HDMI to 4K UHD for UHD television.

Note: You will potentially see visual artefacts and/or image tearing by upscaling 1080p to 4K UHD.

1.4 not but 1.4b can do 4k/24fps and UHD/30fps. 4k is not interesting... we all have UHD!! 4k is in cinemas and 17:9.

I really hope the pass thru will work for 4k/UHD!!

Uhd only works on the tvs app you can also watch 4k content on youtube

Unfortunately the Xbox one S is only really capable of maxing out at 1080p UHD. If you want the full 4k HDR experience you'll need the Xbox One X. I dont think there's a way of getting it to run even in 4k UHD on their S. The only 4k you'll get on the
S is the streaming and video quality.
