xbox one YT app is terrible

WTF happened? The Xbone YT app is terrible, much worse than the 360's YT app.

I enjoyed using the 360's YT app a lot and It was so great. I was hoping they would just transfer that app's interface and just move it to the XOne.

Instead they copied the same interface from the Wii U's Youtube app and moved it to Xbox One.

EVerything about this app is terrible and seems slower and less useable for me.

A few things I dislike about the Xone YT app:

1. the shoulder buttons/trigger buttons dont do anything. On 360, the shoulder/triggers let u skip videos or fast forward. Now they simply dont have any function at all.

2. the video quality is much worse, colors and clarity looks worse. HD content doesnt look as clear. Non-HD content looks terrible.

3. yes it makes you wait 10 seconds between videos. before it would simple go to the next video right after

4. No ability to snap Youtube on the side

5. No ability to view playlists

6. overall interface is terrible and needs to fit into the xbone's metro interface. it is very unintuitive.

7. searching for videos is frustrating and slow, because you have to peck at each letter. You cant even use voice search on the app. And the xbox smartglass app wont allow you to use the keyboard to make it easier.

What device are you using SmartGlass on?

If you're on Android or iOS (don't know about win devices), have you tried pairing the YouTube app on your Phone/Tablet with the X1 YouTube app? It's my preferred way of interacting with the Xbox ONE (or 360) YouTube apps.

I think SmartGlass with the X1 YT app is limited, but it should just work. Though I can't remember if I've tried SG with YT yet.

 

The general design seems to be in line with YouTube apps on most other devices like phones, tablets, Smart TVs, and probably other streaming boxes I assume. So no surprise really.

A mix of the 360 version and this version could be really good, if done right. The One's version is hardly terrible, but it really does need some work. 360 one went through a lot of updates to get it to it's current state.

You can Snap YouTube, but it still needs work as it plays a bit choppy snapped.

Have you tried pairing a smartphone or tablet YouTube app with the One's YouTube app? That might help you with searches and other stuff. Just use the mobile app as you normally would and throw videos to the console. I always use it. The 360 YT app can be
paired too.

 

Does anybody have any brains around here? delete the god-awful app and use the browser to view youtube.
