    Xbox one x with a 144hz monitor

I recently bought HP 27xq gaming monitor that supports quad HD at 144hz, but my xbox wont let me change to that. If i select 120hz my default option is 1080p and if i select 60hz then i can use quad hd. Why is this?

    :)

Unable to 120Hz at 1440p Even Though Monitor Supports 144Hz at 1440p

I think it's a known Xbox One X issue with 1440p 144Hz monitors. I found an article that said that if your monitor isn't specifically a 120Hz monitor that it won't be recognized by the Xbox. If this is true, it would be fantastic to get a fix at some point
from Xbox because a lot of people are opting into 2K 144Hz options.

Thank you again, last question, will the xbox series X be able to support 144hz for monitors?

Unable to 120Hz at 1440p Even Though Monitor Supports 144Hz at 1440p

It sounds like any monitor that uses non standard Vesa frequencies (144hz as opposed to 120hz) will not be able to effectively run at 120hz with 1440p on xbox one x.

Why won’t my monitor run 1440p 120hz on Xbox Series X?

According to the website specs on the monitor, it can run up to 1440p at 144hz using the hdmi cord it provided, which is the one I’m trying to use with my Xbox series x
