Xbox one x suddenly rough on 1080p

Hi ive had a one x runnin at 1080p for 2 years, i took the xbox away with me to a few hotels and it was fine, now ive returned home plugged it all in and now when its on 1080p its flickering between some crazy green static pictures and the normal xbox
screen but with strange red flickering dots, and red dots surrounding what ever i have selected on the dashboard, its driving me crazy, ive tried different hdmi cables and used different ports on the tv, my mac is fine on the tele at 1080p, but struggling
with this one x.

xbox has been reset, Its on 720p now and its fine, but i want the 1080p back

If you get flickering pixels and green static, this usually means that the HDMI connection can't send proper data to the TV via cable.

Since you say you checked the cable with your Mac, and the cable works, it might be that due to unplugging and plugging in the console several times in various hotels, that a contact in the HDMI port of the console is bent, or maybe just a dust particle
got into the console's plug and disturbs the video signal just enough that 1080p with the higher data rate gets corrupted, whereas 720p with less data works.

Unplug the HDMI cable from the console and inspect the HDMI plug of the console. Check if there are bent contacts visible, or use canned air to spray into the connector to get dust out.

If that doesn't help, it might be that something in the HDMI port broke, and needs to be serviced. In that case you need to sign up your console for repairs at

Will give that a go thank you, not sure i have any canned spray but ill inspect and might blow at it with a compressor on low

Xbox One and Xbox One S are 1080P Gaming

Xbox One S will play 4K Blu Ray's

Xbox One X will play Game in 4K if they are Enhanced with 4K Support + 4k Blu Ray support

They Xbox One X will also Upscale on a 1080p screen so you will see some benefit of the Xbox One X

Thanks for your fast reply, but unfortunately it didn't help me.

I did not specify that I had a Xbox One FAT and not a Xbox One S or X, so suddenly I have no problem about the 4K or the HDR. I just have a problem screen resolution, my TV supports 1080p (1920 x 1080) but I still have the image cut in the corners of the
screen, that's what I don't understand. I set up my Xbox One FAT in 1080p and even in 720p I have this problem. So is the problem coming from my console or my TV ?

Hi,

You will get 1080p with the Xbox one day one as the HDMI out is 1080p.

To get your 4k, you need an Xbox one x.
