Xbox One X Slow Upload Speed

My xbox one x occasionally has issues with online gaming that I think is caused by slow upload speeds from my xbox to the server. I've gone through almost all the trouble shooting steps to improve connectivity between an xbox and the server/network (not sure if that's the right terminology). However, every once in a while, my xbox just struggles in online gaming. I'm confident it isn't any specific game's server because all my online gaming is affected. My laptop (wired) and phone (wireless) have great connection, so it seems doubtful that my internet/modem are the cause.

I sincerely believe that it is something with my xbox that is causing the slow upload speeds, but chatting with a team member of the xbox community their last ditch recommendation was to factory reset the xbox. This doesn't seem like a viable solution because eventually the connection will improve and I'll go a couple months with no issue. I'd prefer not to have to redownload all my games, reset all my advanced network settings, and such just for this to happen again after a few months. I just want to understand why the xbox will randomly struggle uploading.

I've tested my upload speeds 3 times while typing this and gotten:

    1. Upload Speed - 10 Mbps Latency - 37 ms

    2. Upload Speed - 4.66 Mbps Latency - 97 ms

    3. Upload Speed - 16.95 Mbps Latency 31 ms

For reference my upload speeds on my laptop (tested at the same time) are 147 Mbps.

    :)

Another (maybe stupid) question, speed test apart, have you real issue gaming online? You always spoken about "slow" speed but speed test and real gaming are different.
Yes unless you can do your speed test on the XBox and play on-line at the same time you really do not know exactly what your speed and latency are connected to that gaming site... A lot of times recording that part of the game and then playing back can reveal
that there is an issue. (then you have the cheats laggers etc.) Another problem also is you do not know the addresses of the servers you are going through to connect to that particular games server AND some have multiple servers... I also heard that if your
are playing against other players (PVP in Destiny 2) your connection is only as good as that of the person with the worse connection?

Anyhow will have to wait until they decide to look at the issues and fix them. Australian has always had **** internet and even New Zealand's internet is better.

The problem with console gaming is you are really stuck with what the console the manufacturer gives you where with PC you can do far more things to your computer to improve things. Good PC set ups are very expensive...

There are so many technical sites AND experts all with different opinions so what do you do and who do you believe. Tried a few different setting with modem etc which did nothing just have to keep doing research and trying different things OR just put up
with it... Going to look at some of these Google search links etc.

it may be difference between MByte and Mbit
Australian NBN is .... Fastest – 100/40 Mbps – which means
that the theoretical peak download speed is 100 Megabits per second, and the theoretical peak upload speed is 40 Megabits per
second. This is a professional grade service, and you'll need a professional grade router to get the full benefit from it. SO the readings I showed in original post are Megabits ... SO I should be getting minimum of 30 megabits on my plan... which I am on
    other devices...

With the internet, you do not have a direct connection from your system to Microsoft's server. There are probably a dozen "hops" between the two of you (maybe even more). Each hop is not owned or operated by Microsoft or your ISP. If one or two of those
servers are slow then your ping will be high and your speed slower than expected. This may also be why other devices seem fine with the route they are using and the route for the Xbox server has some slow hops.

If you know the Xbox server IP, you may be able to use a PC to run a tracert and identify the slower hops or servers that are causing the issue. While I have never tried to reach out to one it was good to know where the slow down was at. In some cases
the first hop was the slow down letting me know I had an issue with my router or ISP.

I remember reading somewhere that irrespective of your location, xbox speed test goes via Seattle servers, is this right?

You can probs run an online speed test, using a device such as pc or mobile, and select a server in or near Seattle and you'll probably get results similar to xbox results. I have similar issue regarding tests from uk.

However... I should add that my actual upload speed in no way actually affects my online experience or functionality, and I use xcloud AND console streaming so I can play xbox at work via project xcloud.

So is your concern stemming from actual issues, or simply a response to the actual reported speed from the test?
Everyone you ask and every site you go to tells you something different. Like with Destiny 2 where apparently if there was a Bungie server in Australia we would not have the same issues and that we currently run through the Microsoft Server then through
to the US... When you do your checks on the xbox it gives you the speeds and latency to the microsoft/xbox server and you need to actually know where they server is that you connect to for each game to get a correct reading ... SO apparently I was told you
go through the Microsoft server which connects to the Bungie server in the USA to play ??? not sure if this is correct? seen lots of different opinions on this...
