    Xbox One X - Repeatably wants me to unplug my router and wait 30 seconds


    It is CRAZY-DIFFICULT to report bugs. So, this post is a FEEDBACK/COMPLAINT more than anything else,

    The XBOX ONE X isn't resolving DNS & repeatably wants me to "unplug my router and wait 30 seconds" It usually takes MULTIPLE TRIES and/or a HARD REBOOT to finally get it to recognize the router (and thereby gain internet access).

    • This is for a wired connection
    • I am running in the "quick boot" mode
    • It happens every time I turn it back on
    • My network speed is: 243.52 download/12.05 upload

    After experimenting, I found...

    • It doesn't matter whether other devices are attached to the router (or not)
    • If I plug my old XBOX back-in everything works just fine - so it isn't the router
    • All my other devices connect just fine - so it still isn't the router
    • The number of times I reboot and/or unplugging the router makes no difference
    • It eventually connects - but "success" is random

    This is clearly a software/procedure/driver issue.

    Please patch & fix this. It is EXTREMELY ANNOYING. Plus, "plugging into the internet" is kind-of a core activity that "you should have down" by now. So there is no real excuse for this.

    Wifi issues

    My Xbox one won't connect to

    wifi and it keeps saying "Unplug the power from your router or modem for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait another 30 seconds" so I wait thirty seconds and nothing changes. 3-31-2018

    Can't connect using wired connection.

    Unplug power from router, wait 30 seconds, plug powe back in, wait 30 seconds. Plug to router wired.

    network troubleshooting guide     hopefully it will allow you to get your console set up and connected to the Xbox servers

    Open NAT is now Strict

    Try unplugging your Xbox One, modem and router for 30 seconds to 45 seconds. Then plug in the modem, wait 30 seconds. Once it is up plug in the router. Once the router is up running then plug in the XBOX, It should then pull the internet.

    Power cycle your networking equip.

    1. turn off xbox

    2. unplug router and modem

    3. wait 30 seconds.

    4. plug modem in.

    5. wait for lights to begin to stabalize

    6. plug in router.

    7. repeat step 5

    8. turn on console and check

    Just unplug your router for 30 seconds and then plug it back in and wait another 30 seconds and your all good. It worked for me
