    Xbox One X Overheating Error after Alpha ring of 4/5/21


    Hi,



    I looked for a recent post on this issue, but only found posts over a year old.



    Since the Alpha ring update on 4/5, my Xbox One X will not launch games past their initial splash screen, if that. The system will hard shut down. When powered up, it gives an error about the system overheating. However, the system is in the same place it's been for 3 years, in an open air shelf with no obstructions near any vents.



    Since the update, the fans will kick up as the game tries to load, to the point where the system shuts down. This happens when the console has been standing for hours, and has dropped to the room temp of 65F. After shut down, the system is still cool to the touch.



    I've filed the Report A Problem at least twice on this issue now, yet it is still happening. I've reproduced it with Rainbow Six Siege and Gears 5. (I haven't tried any other games.)



    Anyone else having this issue? I've tried removing the external HDD and only running from internal storage, moving all games to external and running from there. No change.



    The system can sit at the home screen all day, if I leave it. But it cannot launch into a game fully.



    Any advice is appreciated.

    Hi, I tried to private message you but it didn't work.

    You have to be in the insider preview to download the avatar beta app. It works on the original Xbox One, the Xbox One S and Xbox One X. It is not rolled out by console model but by which Insider Preview ring you are in. It has now been rolled out to all
    rings.

    Insider Preview has Alpha Skip Ahead, Alpha, Beta, Delta and Omega rings. Alpha Skip Ahead and Alpha are invite only from the development team. You can use any Xbox One family of console in any of the rings.

    2 rings: Overheating

    3 rings: General Hardware error

    4 rings: AV/HDMI cable not detected

    Secondary error code:

    Press "Sync" and "Eject" button at the same time and note down how many rings. Do this four times.

    1 ring: number 1

    2 rings: number 2

    3 rings: number 3

    4 rings: number 0

    Xbox Series X turning off by itself

    In my experience the notification about overheating occurs after you turn the console back on after letting it cool down, about an hour. I've never seen it before it turns off, and only had overheating on a Xbox One X. The side tiny vents were blocked with dust which required vacuuming out every other month.

    Haven't had overheating on my Xbox Series X.

    Elden Ring is resource intensive. Could you hear Series X fan working overtime while you were playing?

    If so I would send the console back to get repaired and / or replace it.

    At this point in time, the shopping cart feature has been removed. I am in Alpha SA ring on my X and Alpha ring on my S. Just double checked the store and it is not there at the moment.
