Xbox One X not working in 4k on Vizio TVs

So hello there Xbox One X not working in 4k on Vizio TVs :) got my One X from Best Buy on Nov 7th and I'm loving it!!! But I can't enjoy 4k :-( let me try to explain as good as I can (English is not my first language so I do apologize in advance)

I have a Vizio M65-D0 (a 65 inch M series 2016 model), and I've used my Xbox One S in HDMI5, and before you start replying that I should use HDMI 1 instead of 5 let me explain why I wanna use number 5 instead: so I like to play shooters and formula 1, games
that require fast response time and I will always look for lowest latency possible, and now my TV HDMI5 supports 4k 60hz and NO HDR, but it has a 17ms lag which is awesome and I was playing my One S using that HDMI without any problems for the past year, also
using '4k' option in video settings on my S, in 'auto-detect' mode. Zero problems whatsoever.

On November 7th I received my One X and after installing I realized I'm in 640x480 mode and console asked me automatically if I would like to change it to 720p or 1080p and I went for 1080p, finished setting up the console and went straight to Video Settings
and what I saw was it chose 'DVI' automatically... I'm like wth, but nevermind, let me choose 'auto-detect' like I did on my old console but after doing that the only resolution I can get is 640x480, no sound and the only advanced option I can turn on is YCC.
When I choose 'HDMI' I can turn on 50hz, 24hz, 4k, and 3D (my TV does not support 3D), after choosing those options in 1080p resolution I want to choose 4k UHD but it will give me a message that my TV does support 4k but not in 60hz... well according to my
TV specifications it does and 4k mode worked flawlessly with my S as I mentioned before. Also, it tells me in the details that if I want to use 4k mode I should change my settings to 'auto-detect'... and again, if I do all I get is 640x480 and no sound.

Some of you might think it might be a faulty console, cable or TV, but not really, and let me explain why:

    1. When I plug it in HDMI1 I can choose 4k HDR (yes, HDMI1 on my TV supports HDR, HDMI5 doesn't) in 'auto-detect' and just like One S it works without any problems, tested in Formula 1 2017 and Gears of Wars 4 - works OK in 4K HDR mode.

    2. When I connect my One S again to the TV and once again go for HDMI5 all the options are there in 'auto-detect', the 4k 60hz works with no problems!

    3. Tried three different cables.

And probably some of you will ask "well dude, why don't you just use HDMI 1 if it works AND supports HDR while your HDMI5 doesn't?", well, firstly, because there's obviously something wrong in the One X-Vizio TV communication regarding my HDMI5 port not
supporting 4K and barely displaying anything in 'auto-detect' which by the way is safest and recommended setting, secondly because LATENCY, latency, latency... according to rtings and my personal experience I can feel a massive difference, rtings says my HDMI1
in gaming mode is 45ms and HDMI5 is 17ms... that's one third of HDMI1 response time, massive difference.

    My TVs tech specs: VIZIO

    "HDMI 5 Tech Specs

    370MHz pixel clock rate:

    2160p@60fps, 4:2:2, 8-bit

    2160p@60fps, 4:2:0, 10-bit

    1080p@120fps, 4:4:4, 10-bit

    1080p@fps120, 4:2:2, 12-bit"

Vizio already responded, they said they do not really see how can they fix it as they let HDMI5 use 4k 60hz... and I think they really are because it was working with my One S and it was green checked for 4k60hz in the tv details in video settings on my
Xbox S. Also, I am not the only one having this issue, other people on Vizio's reddit reported exactly same stuff, I'll let myself quote a fellow redditor here:

"I just want to say a final statement and I really hope /u/Vizio_Support comes to our aid. I received my one X last night and thought I would do a little test. While my S was still active, I changed the
HDMI to port 5 with the "Auto Select" method and as mentions, working like a dream at 4k@60 just as it should. Yes, HDR off.

After installing the X, I proceeded to try the same setup and right off the bat, the one X was set to DVI..yeah DVI. After switching to HDMI or Auto Select the Xbox would not allow for the 4K option to be turned on. Not sure if it is a Vizio issue or if
the firmware in the Xbox one X is different than the S in this regard. But please give us a solution as for me this is the reason I purchased this TV and I want it to function as it should. Maybe I will update with pictures tonight. Now we wait.."

Now I really hope Xbox tech division sees this thread and responds somehow, maybe all the X needs is a teeny tiny software update/tweak? I really want to enjoy X to the fullest but can't without the 4k experience Xbox One X not working in 4k on Vizio TVs :(

PS. I am sorry if this topic is written in a chaotic way, I feel a little bit sick and English is my second language. By the way, if you have any questions regarding the issue feel free to ask, I will be more happy to give you more details so we can somehow
    solve it.

    Have a lovely day!

    :)

  6. I have the exact same tv and i use hdmi one because HDR is more important than 28 ms difference. I also have a 4k HDR samsung KS8000 and the latency is about 12ms. And i can tell you after a while the difference is not noticeable enough to sacrifice the
HDR. It is the point of those TV. 4k is one thing but HDR is everything. But if you only play a game like COD competitively. I understant that every ms counts. Sorry about your problems. But that TV is truly great.

    Hi Baksju,

I have the exact same TV and exact same issue. For what it's worth, I found out that the One X uses HDMI 2.1 and One S is HDMI 2.0, so this may be part of our issue. No resolution yet, but hopefully either Vizio or Microsoft fixes the issue. I'll report
back if I get it fixed.

I have the issue with my Vizio P Series Quantum PQ65-F1 TV. I hope the fix comes out soon. Can't believe Xbox would alienate OEMs with Dolby Vision. Poor planning Xbox!!!

    4K UHD Resolution

    Hi Scrappy,

Okay so looks like your TV supports 4k, HDR and 120Hz, so thats a good start atleast.

I've tried looking all over, and seen alot of other threads with similar issues with the Vizio TV's though.

Here's a post from 3 years ago, with a person with a very similar (not exactly the same) issue to yours (No real fix found)

Xbox One X not working in 4k on Vizio TVs

But there are some trouble shooting guides you might be able to look through that might help.

Trouble shooting 4k and HDR on Xbox One

    4K on xbox

What I'd maybe suggest, is changing the advanced settings to ensure all settings such as 60Hz and 4K are setup.

Also on your TV, follow these steps.

    1. Make sure you are using HDMI port 1 or 2
    2. Make sure you are using a high speed 2.0 HDMI cable
    3. Go to MENU>INPUT SETTINGS>CHOOSE HDMI PORT>OK>TURN UHD ON
