Xbox One X - No Network when Waking from Instant-On

Good evening!

Recently, when my Xbox One X is turned off and then wakes up when in instant-on mode, it refuses to see any WiFi networks and will NOT connect to the Internet without a reboot. I can still play games offline, etc, but there is absolutely no way to get the
wireless connection to return without a power cycle. It seems that suddenly, the wireless adapter sees no wireless networks without the power cycle.

Is this a known issue? Bug in the newest system update? I am on the most recent system software.

I'm having some network issues with my Xbox One X. I've actually had these since launch day.

I have a wired connection, but also have wifi in my house.

Since launch, when I powered off with instant-on enabled, when it turns back on, it connects to wifi, not wired connection. Disconnecting from wifi, it just says there's no connection. It didn't see the wired connection at all - until I did a hard reboot, then
it would work fine.

I contacted support and they pointed me in this direction: Xbox One Network Ports | Xbox Live Network Ports

I did all that and it worked... until I got a new router (Netgear Nighthawk X6). I immediately ran into the same issue. I followed that guide, and it did not fix it. I still had to hard reboot to get it to connect to the wired connection.

Then, a few months later, it wouldn't connect to anything (wifi or wired) when waking up from instant-on. I had to do a hard reboot to get any sort of internet connection.

It's been this way for several months. I just disabled instant-on and do a hard reboot every time I turn on my console.

I still have my original Xbox One and it has never run into an issue like this.

I am a member of the preview program, but I have since opted out of beta updates on the X in hopes that only the released versions of the dashboard would fix my problem - it hasn't.

My original Xbox One still gets beta updates and has never run into any networking issues whatsoever.

I've also tried setting a static IP for my X through the X and through my router - this didn't change / fix anything.

Any advise would be appreciated. I'd like to use instant-on again some day.

 

Is your console enrolled in the Insider Preview program, or are you on the latest official System software?

I have the exact same issue and so do a couple of my friends

 

The issue seems to be at the OS level. My old Xbox One has been working fine for quite a long time until an software update a few months ago. After that, with instant on enables Xbox randomly losses ability to see any WiFi networks (sometimes there is a
period of a graduate decay of functionality, when after wake it's able to find WiFi connection after a couple minutes pause, but eventually it goes into complete loss of WiFi connectivity and inability to see any WiFi networks around).

At first I suspected my old Xbox hardware, but recently I got a new Xbox One X and after a couple of weeks it got exactly in the same state as the old one.

So, all indicators are pointing towards a bug in Xbox OS (Win 10 presumably).

A workaround that seem to help in my case is a cold boot (unplugging Xbox power cord).

 

Yup - exactly same issue. Glad to know that it’s not just me and this is a bug in the software. I guess the only solution for now is turning instant-on off.
