XBOX One X - IR Blaster Problem with Sony Receiver (STR-DN1030 and probably others)

I've configured my TV setup as well as my receiver setup following all the instructions on the console but I found a bug for the control of my sony receiver (STR-DN1030).

During the setup, if I click the "Guide Me" option, I can see it working correctly, the volume up works. But as I exit the setup function, the volume doesn't work anymore.

After the configuration, the remote code provided was the R2172 code.

But I found something that might allow someone to program the software to work correctly, that is, when I try to use any volume key on my media remote, and I immediately follow with a different command (in my case I'm using channel up) the volume command goes through.

I imagine the software is sending the command to the IR blaster to alter the volume more than 3-4 times, and the SIRCS (Sony infrared controller) protocol is not picking it up correctly.
    OR
Maybe the timing for each command repeat is less/more than 45ms?

I just know that the timing/repeating of the command is correct at the "Guide Me" part of the software, but not on the actual day-to-day operation of the volume-up or down everywhere else.

This problem was reported several times, on multiple models of Sony receivers, in multiple subreddits, and other forums and it seems no-one got any response and it's broken on the insider build too.

So, maybe now it's the time for someone to look at the code and fix (or provide a different remote profile for Sony's receivers) .

Sorry to hear it. Have you tried contacting Sony about the code as well? I think the code would be provided to the manufacturer of the blaster (ie Xbox). In this case I think it would be Sony that would need to update their code and service

XBOX One X - IR Blaster Problem with Sony Receiver (STR-DN1030 and probably others)

The problem is the software of the xbox that is not sending the signals in the correct order to the IR led/blaster.

If we consider the Xbox is using object oriented programming, during the setup one method of the software is called, when the software makes the IR command outside the setup, another method is called and it's failing to adhere to the correct configuration
    for the sony receivers.

Just to be clear, the IR receiver on most appliances can`t be updated, the command is baked in the chip to send a predetermined message to de processing unit... so it's not on Sony to resolve, but on the Xbox software team to fix the bug in their software.

Error code 0x80bd0009. Xbox One S. Cannot select 7.1 or 5.1 uncompressed, only stereo.

If you connect the Xbox directly to the TV do you have any issues ? Looking at the Sony website that model receiver doesn't support a 4k passthrough. There was a firmware update way back in 2014, it may be worth just checking that your receiver is fully
    up to date.

Xbox Does Not Turn on TV

Hi, if it is an Original Xbox One you would need an IR blaster, like the one built into kinect. If it is an S or X the IR blaster is built in.

Syncing Xbox media remote on a series X

Hi, the Xbox Media Remote controller does not get paired with your console instead it uses the IR blaster.

Do your consoles are near or next to each other? Try by removing the batteries for a few seconds and by blocking the IR receiver from your Xbox One Console so the Series X gets the commands (aim to the button next to the USB port in the front of the console).
