Xbox One X HDMI disconnects

My xbox one x recently started randomly losing HDMI signal while playing some Apex Legends the other day.

I have my xbox hooked through a HDMI switcher and into an el gato pro and Until recently ive had no problems with this setup. Ive also tested this with other consoles, with just the switch or el gato, and without.

Since then and while testing all of this, it seems the only constant is that I can get the HDMI signal to black screen whenever I try and play one of my own game clips or view a screenshot. The screen will go black but through my headset I could still here
the console on / game playing/ whatever.

I also only think this started after the most recent console update.

AND NOW my astros will not get any game audio. chat audio still seems to work.

Has anyone else had similar issues since the last update? Any known fixes? I'm about to send my xbox in for repair while its still in warranty just in case its just me.

The Xbox One X is the only console that has HDMI 2.1. Xbox One S has HDMI 2.0.

The Xbox One S and One X both use HDMI 2.0,

The Xbox One uses HDMI 1.4

The Series X will have HDMI 2.1.

I'm very sorry to hear that your Xbox doesn't seem to be displaying... have you checked the following?

Verify HDMI cable works with another device
Verify the HDMI input on your TV or Receiver works with another device
Verify that the HDMI cable is plugged into the HDMI IN port on the Xbox One X
If you have another display (like a HDMI computer monitor or another TV) try connecting it to that
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable while the Xbox One X is powered on

Check if it's just the display having issues... if if the Xbox One X isn't booting properly:

Turn on the Xbox One X, and connect a LAN cable to your Xbox One X and to your router
Log into your router and check to see if your Xbox One X is showing up on the network
If you can see it on your network than that means that there's an issue in your display chain specifically
If you can't check it that way, see if the Xbox App can detect your Xbox on the network

Do controllers wired to the Xbox One X power on and light up properly? This is another way to check and see if it's a display issue, or if the XBox One X isn't even booting properly

Hopefully one of the items listed above will help us get closer to the source of your problem 🙂

I definitely have the same issue with my Xbox One X - creating a separate topic on this too. But, about a month and a half ago, I have intermittent drops of HDMI when playing games in HDR. In particular, I have been playing Division 2. Some nights, I
can get through a whole night of gaming (~4 hours) and other nights, I make it maybe an hour before I see drops.
