xbox one x hdmi black level setting

Hi, I can't find specifics for this model, however here is a calibration setup for similar monitor, which MAY give enough insight for appropriate settings. Let us know if it helps

Picture quality degredation, crushed blacks etc. with HDMI input

Agreed. I don't think this is a settings issue at all. I've changed settings left and right and switched between passthrough and no passthrough. The difference is very clear. Software image and crushed blacks when passing through HDMI from cable box
to Xbox one to TV. Something is happening to the signal quality at the Xbox One level. Sucks.

Display Calibration and RGB, black levels

This was an issue on the Xbox 360 and it was never fixed, so don't hold your breath.

The issue is that the Xbox seems to output 0-255 black levels when set to RGB limited, causing the black and white levels to be crushed, even when the tv is set to RGB limited.

And then when setting it to RGB Full, it seems to output even lower black levels and higher white levels, such that the black and white levels are still crushed when the TV is set to RGB Full, and even MORE crushed when set to RGB limited

Setting the Xbox to RGB Limited and the TV to RGB Full seems to make the blacks and whites look normal, but intermediate shades (and colors) are washed out.

The only workaround I've been able to find is to set the Xbox One's "TV Connection" setting to "DVI", which seems to fix the RGB limited and RGB full settings to their proper black levels, but you no longer have sound over HDMI.

The best way I've found to test the black levels on the XB1 is to save a copy of the Lagom LCD black levels test image:

    www.lagom.nl/.../black.php

and these grayscale gradient test images:

    www.sixfortyfive.com/.../calibration_white.png

to SkyDrive, and view them on the console each time I change a setting.

You may have to adjust settings on your Samsung TV. I use Game mode for the HDMI input I use with my Xbox One. Open Samsung Settings - Picture and select Expert Settings. Scroll down to HDMI UHD Color, press enter (center button on remote) then select HDMI
input for your Xbox One and set it to On if you want 4K support.

Make sure that Sharpness isn't set to high...I use 25 on my KS8000. HDMI Black Level should probably be on Low or Auto otherwise the display may appear to be washed out (more gray than black). Dynamic Contrast is set to High (or OFF) as the other two settings
also are a bit more washed out. I leave the TV on Color Space Native and Color Tone Standard.

    Good luck!

    Screen blackout

Same here and same LG OLED TV...

I've seen the problem, black screen, a few time yesterday after setting it up but it's mainly when watching TV. I was using my high end HDMI cables but last night I removed the one that goes from Xbox One X to TV and replaced it with the cable that came
in the box. No issues so far since doing that.

I've had mine plugged directly into the wall socket the whole time. I have HDMI from cable box to Xbox One X IN and the HDMI that came with the Xbox One X from it to the ARC (HDMI 2) input on the TV.

I'll keep an eye on it and report back if I see the issue again. If you are not using the HDMI cable that came with the Xbox One X then I'd maybe try it and see if it helps.
