Xbox One X has no LAN connection on start up - reseating the cable resolves it

Xbox One X, LAN connection into Sky router. On wakeup the xbox often has no network connection, however if I pull the LAN cable out and put it back in it picks up the connection. I've tested and changed all cables (which all work fine on PC etc) its like
the xbox goes into a weird mode - or perhaps its HDCP not working with it right untill there is a trigger.

any ideas?

GTA IV: Can't download, stuck at 1%

Reseating the harddrive and trying a direct connection to the modem helps (if applicable).

With reseating, take off/out your hard drive, boot up without it, turn off, put harddrive back in and start up.

Since the system update, this has been fixing a lot of odd billing and downloading errors.

 

Need to fix system/OS issues.

This has happened twice since 11/28. About every two days the problem returns. As before, reseating the power and booting up resolves the issue. A turn off and turn on does not resolve.

 

Apparently this is a known issue to be fixed next update. And rather than reseat the LAN cable i just restart via menu. Xbox Guy chat told me this. seems weird more havent noticed it, I guess its to do with DHPC release, but I havent bothered to assign
a static to test

I would be curious if rebooting your modem/router or doing a hard reset on the Xbox would also resolve the issue.

 

hi @tormaz I already put an update above, doing a soft reset via the menu clears the issue but you have to do it each time.

I've reset the router, done a hard reset on xbox, changed LAN cables etc - and issue still there.

An Xbox Guy in chat told me its a known issue to be fixed next update?

 

I've personally not heard of that issue and it not being a hardware problem (almost always the router). Does it do the same thing on a wireless?

 

I'm having the same issue. I'm on the insider builds and it's getting close to October so I'm not seeing an Xbox firmware update that is solving the issue. Any other advice? I'll try soft resetting every time to see if that works. Thanks.

 

Hi, sorry to hear that for you but also glad I'm not the only one logging it here. Yes soft reboot works but its annoying its needed. I never tried static IP, you could test that?

That is a known issue related to the Xbox One X connecting with an ethernet cable. It's not a network issue as has been mentioned before, a simple restart or reconnecting the wired connection will fix the problem. I have an Xbox One X myself and have experienced
it every once in a Blue Moon but haven't experience it lately since I left the Xbox Update Preview program. Though I can agree with you it's slightly frustrating having to reboot your console every now and then for this.

I've never tested a static IP address, but that can help rule out network issues as well. To set up a static IP address on the Xbox, you simply just have to manually add the one the Xbox is currently assigned and not leave it on automatic because the IP
address will change.

- Start on Xbox One's Dashboard.

- Navigate to Settings > All Settings.

- From there, choose Network > Network Settings > Advanced settings.

Here you will find a list of network details. Please write down all of the numbers you see here. You will need them later.

In the same menu, select IP Settings > Manual. You will be prompted to enter an
IP Address, Subnet mask and Gateway. Please use the details you wrote down earlier to populate the fields.

Then, go back to the Advanced Settings screen and select DNS Settings. Enter
Primary and Secondary DNS Address from your notes.
