Xbox one x guide and apps not working

I actually checked for the latest console update earlier today and it said it was up to date. My kids were playing a LEGO game earlier after i restarted the system last night to play Borderlands 2 because the guide/apps/games weren’t working last night.
I power cycled twice including unplugging the power cord and was able to get it to work again. It’s not working like that anymore even though I’ve tried it again. I went ahead and did a factory reset saving games/apps to check if that will work. Now, it just
gives me the loading circle in the center of the screen after saying it’s time to update while attempting to load my profile and restore the console and update, etc. I’ll try the offline update next.

Sounds like you are in the Xbox Insider Preview program. As a similar issue started after the latest update. Try doing a factory reset by pressing and holding the power button till the console is shut down. Press and hold both eject and bind (keep
them pressed) then press power button and wait for second power up chime. Release buttons and from troubleshooting menu select reset console, then reset keeping all games and apps.

This is exactly what i ended up doing late last night and it appears to have worked.
