    Xbox One X games don't download beyond 9Gb file size


    I bought an used Xbox One X yesterday. I have noticed that downloading stops automatically even though my wifi speeds are consistently above 50MBPS after download size for that game reaches 9GB.

    For example I was able to install smaller size games < 9GB and play them normally but as soon as the download reaches 9-9.5 GB size it stops automatically. Thereafter no amount of tinkering helps.

    I feel its useless to buy such a powerful console if I cannot install games which are larger. Its so frustrating.

    I tried factory resetting. All updates are latest. I removed idle so that console doesn't go to idle and stop downloading. I don't have any issues with my wifi usage cap. My wifi constantly gives 50MBPS.+. As I am easily able to download a different game simultaneously until it reaches 9Gb download size and the new one stops too.

    What could be the potential issue? Does this mean faulty hard drive?

    I am trying this now, just downloading 9GB of demos. I managed to download Mass Effect DLC earlier today so downloading isn't a problem. The GTA file is 2.98GB, it even appears that size on my HDD when un-complete.

    Hey again Dr! Getting that game file size should help our investigation! Can you try something else for us? Instead of re-downloading after clearing your cache and restarting would you actually try downloading 9GB of alternate content to try to write over
    that space on the HD? And then re-download GTA? Let me know your results! I appreciate your cooperation on this one immensely. :)

    Hey Adstarr! Can I have you try deleting the game from your downloads > clear your cache > download 9GB of alternate content (to write over the space on the HDD) > restart your hardware > download GTA? Can you also tell us what the size of the GTA file you
    have been downloading is? This should help our investigation, as this is something we are currently looking into!

    My installs take a long time.

    The file size for the game is 62.4GB on a standard Xbox One, if using a One X it can be twice the size. So yeah, it can take 30 minutes or longer depending on your internet speed.

    Apex Ledgends varies with different updates the file size may change. As long as the game play ok you fine. In a few weeks you will have another upgrade for the new season with bigger file size. Do not worry as long as the game runs you ok.

    XBox One S may have less file size

    XBox One X may have bigger size for 4K files.
