Xbox One X - Error Code 0x80070490 on Startup

On my Xbox One X, my son uses it all the time, downloading all kinds of games through my Game Pass. Well he said Fortnite was acting weird so he decided to Restart the Xbox. It looked like it was shutting down to restart, but then stayed on just a plain
black screen for over 30 minutes. I decided to do a hard restart (unplugging it) because it appeared locked up. When it booted back up I'm now getting a "Something went wrong" screen that displays the error code 0x80070490. Hitting the "Close" button on
the screen just makes it reappear in an endless loop.

I went to the Xbox Error Status Codes search and looked up the code. https://support.xbox.com/en-CA/error-code-lookup?code=0x80070490

It only refers to the Xbox 360 and refers to using Xbox Live or streaming tv. I noticed it does refer to possibly running out of hard drive space and to free up at least 200MB. Well since my son has downloaded so many games, I have no idea how much free
space is left on the Xbox One X, so maybe that's the problem.

My issue is if it is a problem with not enough free hard drive space, how am I supposed to free up space if I can't get the thing to boot up???? Anyone else run into this problem or know a solution??

We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused but rest assured we are here to help. We would like to troubleshoot the console itself a bit more in an effort to clear this up we suggest a full reset of the console from the Troubleshoot
screen by using these steps :

Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.
Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the
EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the
Xbox button on the console.
Continue holding the BIND and
EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the
BIND and
EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

Once the troubleshooting screen comes up select reset console and then select reset and remove everything.

Afterwards you'll need to redownload your profiles, games and apps.

Hi there,

Other users have reported similar problems in the past and resetting the console seems to have worked. You mentioned that you plugged out the console for a hard reset.

Please turn back on and try again, but before unplugging, hold down the power button on the console for 10 seconds to perform a reset. Then unplug for leave for 30 seconds before plugging back in. Hopefully this will clear the error.
