Xbox One X downloads entire game instead of just updating

Hi guys,

I just wanted to download the new update (around 5GB) for Red Dead Redemption 2 and it started off fine. I came back 4 hours later (thinking that the update would obviously be done) to see that it has currently downloaded around 23% of over 92GB. How did
5GB turn into 92GB?

Its a digital download and I do not have an external drive or anything.

Can anyone help me with this?

Xbox One X - 4K update mandatory?

Hi,

I have a question regarding the Xbox One X. They talked about a 4K update for Xbox One X titles that will make the games 4K, but will it be mandatory or I can choose to only play normally? Or at least they can make a 1080p 60FPS update instead?

I don't have 4K TV and the fact that 4K updates will be like 50-100 GB, it's not worth it getting the Xbox One X... It will takes days to download this.

Any new information about that?

You would have to download it as two separate updates

Thanks for reaching out to us with this issue. Its possible that the change may be due to an incorrect installation the first time the game was downloaded and installed. Also, if you previously cancelled the update for the game and then restarted it, it
would cause it to reinstall the entirety of the game as well. At this point, its best to just wait for it to complete rather than to stop and restart the update. Super sorry for any inconvenience that this may be causing you as well.
