Thanks for reading out to Forums for advice on what to do when your console has such problems.

I can understand how this could be pretty disheartening.

It could be that some of the most recent updates were not applied properly due to some kind of interruption.

I would say that if you haven't yet, to try performing a soft reset of the console following the steps outlined in How to reset your console
to factory defaults on Xbox One and choosing the option denoted as Reset and keep my games & apps.


Before you do this make sure that your network is easy to access and that you have all the sign in info for any important accounts (as they will need to be redownloaded) so the process goes smoothly.

When you get a chance, give those steps a shot and let us know how that helped.

When hard reset all silent. Butvwhen shut down via controller or press of off button on console once light is out cd drive will spin a few times

Everything on the console works if you hard reset. If you shut it down you can hear disk drive spinning a couple of times when its off

So when you do a hard reset, you can still hear the disc spinning after it's powered off? Or do you mean you can hear it spinning as it's powering off, and then it goes silent as it should? When I do a hard reset power off, I sometimes hear a noise like
that as it's powering down, but then once the while Xbox power light goes off, it falls silent.
