    Xbox One X Disc Issues


    Hey folks,

    I havent posted on here before, so I'm not 100% sure if it's the right area. I searched the internet for a bit and haven't really been able to narrow down what exactly the problem is.

    Anyway I'm in the process of installing a couple of my old 360 games, and some discs won't even load. None of them are scratched or anything, and they're all backwards compatible. At first I thought it was the DVD reader, but it's able to play certain DVDs,
    as well as notify me if a title is not backwards compatible. Some games it will prompt the download, and others it just spins up and nothing happens.

    I tried several fixes, such as the hard restart after changing the settings to power saving, and the live chat suggested I send in the console for repair. But is that necessary since it still picks up certain games?

    Cross Gen MODERN WARFARE 2 DISC NOT READING

    It actually does. I got the Series X this holiday at $349, and the same disc is working perfectly. I have determined that the Xbox One X disc drive is trying to read Cross Gen discs differently than Xbox One discs. The disc drive on the Series X doesn’t have this issue. You might need a new disc or you might need to send your Series X for maintenance.

    I had three discs from different stores..

    My brother had the same issue.

    The last disc (which wouldn't read on my One X or my original Xbox one) works perfectly fine on my Series X.

    It's not a faulty disc.

    It's older drives and cross gen games.

    My One X played everything else perfectly.

    It's an issue with these cross gen x/s discs..

    Nothing you can say is going to convince me otherwise..

    I have now tried all of these steps and am still having the same problems.

    I actually returned the first Xbox Series X that I got because it had this issue. The second one I got is having this same issue. The disc drive on the new console reads certain games and all blu-ray movies I have tested so it isn't a bad drive.

    As stated in the original post there are no scuffs, scratches, or smudges on the discs so this is not an issue with the disc.

    Also, as stated in the original post the same issue occurs on my sister's Xbox Series X which leads me to believe this is an issue with all Xbox Series X consoles only being able to read certain Xbox One game discs.

    I will double check all of my game discs and make a complete list of what doesn't work and then confirm that all of these discs work on the Xbox One X.

    I have been an Xbox gamer since the OG Xbox and have never been more frustrated and disappointed in a new console.

    I'm pretty sure, TylerG5.

    As a console gamer, I've inserted and ejected discs hundreds of times across my Xbox consoles (Xbox 360, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and Xbox Series X), and to this day, I've never had any issues with them.

    Constantly inserting and ejecting discs is considered normal usage for a console, so it should have no impact on the state of your console's disc drive.
