Xbox One X and external HD

i have just bought a one x and when i connect my external hd with over 120 games on it the one x only sees 18 or so. If i connect it to my xbox one it shows all 120. Please help i dont want to have to redownload them all

How many USB ports with the XBOX 1 X read? and how big a external HD can I use for movies on the XBOX1 X?

Hello frank! An Xbox One X can hold/read up to three USB 3.0 ports and you can hold up to any amount your external HD has.

Install stopped from any support (disc, store, external hd directly connected, other Xbox one,...)

Hi,

I have an Xbox one x and an Xbox one first day release.

The 2 Xbox are on the same network.

The Xbox one x always stop any installation of games: it doesn’t matter if downloading from store, installing from disc, doing a transfer from the old Xbox or even doing a transfer from the external hd directly connected to USB port to internal storage...it
keeps stopping the installation.

I already tried all the common answer “stop any running game...reset the Xbox and retry...clear local saved games...etc”.

The old Xbox works great on the same network... can I be forced to download games on external hd using the old Xbox and move the external hd to the new one to play on Xbox one x??

I really would like an answer from MS support otherwise next time I will try the PlayStation because this is not possible...

Hi

When you have the external hard drive connected to your new console open My games & apps then select the games section and at the top of the section you will see a few filters please try selecting the storage one and make sure it is set to All storage.

Glad you bought the new xbox one X. It's very simple, just add your xbox live account to your new xbox and download your games. if you use an external hd, just plug your hd into your new xbox one x and also add your xbox live account.

Thanks for the time and response. The xbox 1 x now sees the 5TB HD, however, it does not read the information on HD(movie files-MP4\NTFS). This only happens with a HD larger than 2TB. what am I missing? Thanks for the time. Frank

Hi AyeYaya,

It sounds that the external HD may have gotten corrupted causing the Xbox One to shutdown since you are able to use the console fine without the external HD plugged in.

Do you happen to have another external HD that meets the requirements for testing purposes? Or would you happen to be able to try that HD on another Xbox?

You may need to delete what you have on there, re-format the HD for the Xbox One, and then download what you had on there again.
