Xbox One X And Elite controller - no audio via headphone port, but standard controller works

I have an Xbox One X and thought I would try the Dolby Atmos via headphones for late night gaming.

This works well with the standard controller or the Xbox One S controller via the headphone port.

Yet when trying to do the same with the Elite controller, it just won’t work.

Has there been a hardware update that resolves issues with a Apple type headphone connections on these newer controllers OR is my Elite controller faulty?

Xbox Wireless Adapter for Win10 PC: No rumble or headset audio support?

Hey everyone,

Audio worked out of the box for me. A USB Audio Device appeared when I plugged the Stereo Headset adaptor into the controller AND plugged headphones into the adaptor.

This is using a standard Xbox One controller (i.e. not an elite) via the wireless adaptor with v20.24.34.491 drivers.

Loud white/static noise from Xbox Elite Controller 3.5mm jack

I am using Windows 10, the elite controller is connected via the Xbox wireless adapter/ USB cable. The headphones that I am using: audio technica ath-im70, I have also try other headphones, the same problem persists. The problem is as follows, when controller
is off I plug in headphones, no white/static noise, the noise starts when controller finish connecting with the wireless adapter or via USB cable. Any solutions?

Beats & Apple headphones use OMTP standard for 3.5mm audio jacks but Xbox One uses the CTIA standard. You can try purchasing a third-party accessory CTIA to OTMP adapter but we're afraid we're not able to guarantee that will help.

For best results, you'd want to use a headset with CTIA as called out on the page here:

If you try this using an official Xbox headset such as the
chat headset that may have come packaged with your Xbox One console, do you still experience this issue?

they are the same as the standard xbox one s controllers, so with pc you can use via bluetooth(audio through headphone jack not supported)

or wired(supports audio via headphone jack)

The 3.5mm headphone jack on Xbox One/Series X|S controllers (including Elite controllers) does not work when connected via Bluetooth. It will only work via USB or the official Xbox wireless adaptor.

Hello DavidSage3,

The Elite controller is in many ways a better than the standard controller, but from my experience the headphone jack is the same as inside the standard controller.

There is also the option to connect your headphones via Bluetooth.
