xbox one x 10 bit color not available

I have just purchased an Acer predator X27 monitor which supports 4K, HDR10 and 10 bit colour (8 bit + frc). I have connected xbox one x console with hdmi via an hdmi switch (link).

the manufacturer has confirmed the switch supports hdr and 10 bit colour @ YCbCr 4:2:2.

I have set the resolution of the console to 4K UHD, allow 4K, allow HDR, allow 4:2:2 is all checked. if I look at 4K TV details section in xbox settings, I have all the green ticks, included the 10 bit colour options. however, when selecting
colour depth only 8 bpp and 12 bpp show in the list, 10 bpp is not available for selection.

any help here would be much appreciated

    :)

Acer CB281HK - Xbox One X - HDMI to Displayport

    Hey everyone,

So I have a Acer CB281HK monitor 4k 10 bit color w/ freesync and new xbox one X. I understand the freesync is most likely unusable with this combination (unless I read wrong elsewhere). However, I can only connect through HDMI because the Displayport receives
no signal from the Xbox -> HDMI -> DisplayPort/HDMI adapter -> Displayport on monitor. The HDMI port on the monitor is 4k however it lacks the 10 bit color + Freesync features only available through Displayport not HDMI.

When I run the video settings on Xbox one X it says 4k but lacking freesync, 10 bit color, hdr (not on monitor) for gaming (I honestly could care less about 4k apps just gaming).

I've seen many adapters and off and on reviews and I will do what I need to get this 10 bit color and hopefully freesync working. I really don't want to wait for 4k HDMI 10 bit HDR monitors that are not out yet . Any solutions to this? I want to get the
full one X exprerience with 10 bit color gaming.

    THanks!

    Samsung HDR tv

Dashes mean that the sampling for those color schemes are not available. The zeros are equivalent of checkmarks, that in this color scheme, sampling is available. And with UHD Color setting turned on, the 10-bit and 12-bit sampling for color depths YCbCr
4:2:2 and YCbCr 4:2:0 are available. Xbox One S supports all of the color depths. And 10-bit sampling is the equivalent of HDR10. So as long as you turn UHD Color on the TV, you will get HDR color support with this TV set.

Screen issues with Xbox one X

You may have set your "color depth" setting too high, likely at "36-bits per pixel (12-bit)". Choose the next option, "30-bits per pixel (10-bit)".

I experienced this same problem when I initially set up my Xbox One X on my 4K/HDR TV, and fixed it by setting it to 10-bit color. I think 12-bit is for Dolby Vision TVs.

10 bit colour Xbox one x

I can not find much info on that TV but it seems most likely due to the price, that it's using fake 10 bit color in what's called "8Bit + A-FRC" to get that many colors. This is not technically 10 bit color but 8 bit color that has a screen feature that
blinks between two colors in a pixel to approximate the color that 8 bit can't show.

On the other hand, some TVs actually have to make you enable UHD color on each HDMI input before it will show 10 bit color if it's true 10 bit color. My Samsung required me to do that. Look around in the TV options with your remote to see if that's the case
in the menu, then reboot your console by unplugging it for 30 seconds. It should show 10 bit after you enable that option, if there is one.

xbox one x posterization artifacts banding almost in every game and menu

    Hi,

I understand you're having banding issues in your games. I replied to you in a previous post. However, I neglected to point you towards another setting on your Xbox One X console.

    Colour depth settings

Xbox One consoles can output signals at 24 bits per pixel (8-bit), 30 bits per pixel (10-bit) and 36 bits per pixel (12-bit), and while higher is often better, don't mindlessly crank up the value to the maximum. Both your TV and game content set limitations
on how significantly increased color depth is reflected on screen, with most consumer displays failing to offer 12-bit outputs. While HDR10, the standard used by Xbox One X, requires a 10-bit panel, many without HDR support only offer 8-bit.

The reason you're seeing colour banding more due to a limitation of your TV rather than your console.

Open the Settings app on your Xbox One.

Navigate to the Display & sound tab.

    Select the Video output tile.

Select the Video fidelity & overscan tile.

Choose your Color depth from the available options.
