Xbox One wont install disk games.

just to be sure, have you also tried installing a game from disc when the console is in Offline mode, mentioned as solution 2 on this support page:

If you haven't yet, also be sure to try Solution 1.

If neither work, then it sounds like a hardware issue with the disc drive.. if you like information on how to request a repair and the costs see this page:

That is also what i am worried about since im half way through MGSV and about to beat witcher 3, but my xbox is well out of warranty so i think id rather just buy a new one instead of pay for repair. I understand them saving money on the drives but c'mon

Sounds more like a Hardware issue to me, though it could be a software issue. Either way, you can try doing a factory reset of your console, because even if that doesn't work, they'll more than likely do a factory reset anyway if you send it in for a repair.

If you factory reset, so long as you are always connected online, all your saves are automatically backed up to the cloud anyway. The only issue you'll have is if the factory reset doesn't work, you won't be able to reinstall all your disc based games. Unless
of course you have backed them up to an external HDD.

Try installing the game to your HD.. the disk may have a scratch and that could be the reason it wont load.

Well first xbox series s wont install disk games. It will only play digital bought games not disk games you need a non digital console like xbox one )not digital editions ) or series x

Second you need patches for upgraded games especially for the compression chip and you would get the appropriate files for the series s via smart delivrry if compatible
