  1. Xbox One won't connect to tv

if you have the hdmi plugged in correctly, it's very possible that this isn't a compatible HD TV. It's only HD ready and 720p

    It won't even support 1080p

For it to work with and Xbox one it had to have at least full HD at 720p so that may be the issue. I went on vacation and discovered this on an HD tv and had to buy a tv

  2. it STILL should show on the screen when booted in "low res" mode , ...that's the whole point of it ...and when you took it to your friends house , did you use the same hdmi cable that your using at your house ? gotta be a bad cable or wrong port , I cant
believe that tv wont display an xbox one...

  3. No on certain TV's that aren't actually full HD at 720p or higher, it won't show anything

i used every possible trouble shooting step on the site, YouTube, Google etc for about 3 hours during that vacation before buying a new TV which worked the first time

the low Rez mode seems that it should work but did not for me

  4. Xbox One won't connect to tv

Thanks for all the help guys, it is much appreciated believe me. It does seem that my tv was not quite what I thought it was when I bought it- I believe Blacksmurf to be right and this model is not 'true' HD. Gutted but can't be helped- will have to take
more care next time I buy a tv!

Other thing it may be worth doing is going to the web site for the TV manufacturer to see if there is a software update available for the TV that may help with this issue.

  7. Its 720p but its not in full HD, its full HD ready which means other things are needed to make it full HD.

    thats the problem

Full HD is required regardless of the pixel quality

  9. I'm not trying to argue...but just give you factual information the xbox one will show a picture on TV's lower than 720p.

all 720p TV's are not full HD so understand the 720p is only referring to the amount of pixels

Go here for the explanation of pixels 480, 720 and 1080-

Your screen is blank after you turn on the console

    • Confirm that both your TV and Xbox One console are turned on.
    • Check that your TV is set to the correct input signal (HDMI).
    • Check that the HDMI cable connection to your console is secure.
    • Check that the HDMI cable connection to your TV is secure.
    • Check that the HDMI cable is connected to the "out to TV" port on the console.
    • Perform a cold boot on your Xbox One console by holding the power button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds, and then turn it on again.
    • Reset your display settings. Here's how:
      1. If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.
      2. On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.
      3. Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You will hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep. DO NOT LET GO until
        the second beep occurs.

Note This will boot your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To reset this setting, go to
Settings in the guide, select Display & sounds, Video options,
        and then TV Resolution.
      4. If you are required to complete these steps on every boot-up, you will want to change your TV connection to HDMI as shown in step 3 in the next section, "Your screen is blank and you use an AVR in your setup." For more information, see How
to adjust the display settings on your Xbox One console
        .
    • Try plugging the HDMI cable into a different HDMI port on your TV.
    • Try using a different HDMI cable to connect your console to your TV.
    • Try connecting your console to a different TV.
Your screen is blank and you use an AVR in your setup

If your Xbox One console is connected to an audio-video receiver (AVR) that's connected to your television and you have no sound, follow these troubleshooting steps:

    1. Turn on your devices in the following order, waiting for each device to fully power up before starting the next device:
      1. Turn on your television first.
      2. Once your television is displaying a picture, turn on the AVR.
      3. Turn on your Xbox One console.
    2. Use the Input button on your television's remote control (or the buttons on the television) to switch the input source of your AVR away from the console and then back (for example, HDMI1 to HDMI2, and then back to HDMI1).
    3. Restart the AVR.
    4. Set your TV connection to HDMI:
      1. Press the Xbox button to return to the Home screen.
      2. Scroll left to open the guide.
      3. Select Settings.
      4. Select Display & sound.
      5. Select Video output.
      6. Select TV connection.
      7. Select the HDMI option.

Your screen is blank after you install a system update

If you've just installed a system update and you see a blank screen, try the
    Xbox One System Update Solution
. In step 1, select I AM EXPERIENCING A STARTUP ISSUE and then
    BLACK SCREEN in step 2.

    Request a repair

If none of these solutions resolved the problem, your console may need to be serviced. Submit a repair request.

  10. Don't confuse what the xbox one will send to signal to vs. what the TV is set to receive.

This is a TV issue based on what signals the TV can receive and how.

  11. Well I guess I am confused, I read the link you provided and didn't see anywhere it said there were different degree's of 720p like you suggest ,one that is HD and one that isnt...and I have never heard of that if it is that way....again , it didn't say
that as far as I could tell , it DID say the Xbox would drop down to 480 which ANY tv should display, so I'm of the opinion there is something else going on....

  12. Again, thanks for the help and advice. Bought a cheap full HD monitor in the sales and it works fine. I agree that the situation with the tv is strange, especially as the Xbox wouldn't even run on low res. For some reason the to tv point blank refused to
recognise the Xbox and it was def a compatibility on the part of the tv. I've contacted Panasonic but I assume that they will simply refer me back to Microsoft. Just glad to have it up and running for my son.
