  1. Xbox One won't connect to tv

Hi all and apologies if this has been posted in the wrong place. I bought an Xbox One today and was intending to run it off my Panasonic TX-P50X60B television set. I've been running my Xbox 360 through it successfully for years via the HDMI so figured it
would be no bother to connect it.

Unfortunately, this isn't the case. I set up the Xbox One and although it starts up okay, nothing comes on the screen. It stays black. I reconnected my 360 to check- that still worked fine. I've checked everything and just getting nothing, even though I'm
certain everything is set up correctly and working as it should.

Any suggestions what I should do?

    :)

    XBOX won't connect to tv

stopped working probably about Sept last year coz i got the Kinect in July and it was working for a while on the tele then one day just didn't show a picture when i switched cables. it's a pretty old console now tbh so i'm just going to keep using the leads
until the day that it eventually dies on me and i have to replace it

The One may be sending a resolution that your TV doesn't support. Do you have another TV that you can test the One on?

  5. I can take it round a mates and see if it works on his tv I guess. Can the output res be changed so that I can boot it up on my tv? Bit surprised it doesn't work, the tv is only 2 years old and HD compatible.

  6. MS support told me it was probably an update issue and should do an Offline System Update. Not sure how this could be the issue though if I'm getting nothing on the screen at all- don't want to do something like that if the problem is more about the link
to the tv (mate with tv I could test it on has gone away until Saturday :/)

Yes the resolution on the One can be adjusted on the One. This may not be the issue but it is an option. Good Luck!

Under Display & sound, select Video output. Select TV resolution, and then select either 720p or 1080p, whichever is best for your TV. Note If you don't see the resolution for your TV, make sure to set TV connection to Auto detect.

Cheers that is really useful. Have found someone else I can go over and test it on his tv. Have just tested resolution on my tv and it is 720p, so it's possible that the Xbox default output is 1080p?

You may want to try the support steps in the link below as this might be of use.

    support.xbox.com/.../tv-or-monitor-screen-is-blank-while-connected

    Especially this part.

"Reset your display settings. Here's how:

If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.

On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.

Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You will hear one beep straight away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep. DO NOT LET GO until the second
    beep occurs.

Note This will boot your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To reset this setting, go to Settings in the guide, select Display & sounds, Video options and then TV Resolution.

If you are required to complete these steps on every boot-up, you will want to change your TV connection to HDMI as shown in step 3 in the next section, "Your screen is blank and you use an AVR in your set-up". For more information, see How to adjust
the display settings on your Xbox One console."

  11. Took it round a friends house and it works fine. Ran all the updates, everything great. Brought it home, hooked it up... Nothing. Still won't connect. At least I know it isn't the Xbox that's a problem. Everything else I own will run through the hdmi channels,
no problem... Except the Xbox. Totally bizarre. Changed display res to 720p and connection to hdmi. Not sure what else to do Xbox One won't connect to tv :(

  12. Thanks gds 1972 I tried this but didn't work unfortunately. Beginning to suspect my HD TVs and Xbox are incompatible which is bad news

Glad you tried what GDS suggested. Sorry it didn't work. At least you have an idea where the problem is. Keep us updated on what you do. Good Luck!

  14. Cheers mate. I've googled a lot about this and seems lots of people have had issues with Paanasonic/ Xbox compatibility. Haven't come across a fix though. I suspect there's a conflict between the tv and the Xbox but I haven't a clue what it is. Really frustrating,
especially since seeing it run beautifully on a different tv. Think it may well be a case of sending it back to the shop because certainly can't fork out for a new to too.

  15. That dosent sound right ....tv shouldn't care what is hooked to it , xbox one or xbox 360....I had this very issue in the chat room the other day , MAKE SURE you are using the right HDMI port on the xbox one , there are 2 back there , sometimes its easy
to pick the wrong one ...
