  1. Xbox One Wireless Adapter Shows Up As Ethernet

    Hello.

I am using the Xbox One Wireless Adapter with my Windows 10 machine.

On the taskbar, I click the networking icon and it shows as Ethernet 3 with no Internet.

I am currently connected to an ethernet network that provides internet.

How do I get the "Ethernet 3" to go away?

It's the only one that shows up, so I'd like to see my actual internet network there in case something is wrong with it.

I can't even rename is in the registry, so my default reaction is "Oh, did something happen to my internet?"

    It's annoying.

I know controllers use radio boradcasting, but it's weird that the adapter is showing up as an ethernet connection at all, let alone the top priority one.

Why can't I do anything at all with this?

    :)

Xbox One Controller Wireless PC adapter shows up as ethernet connection with no internet access, disconnects me from primary ethernet adapter.

This has been an ongoing issue with me but since I just recently purchased Forza Horizon 4 with intentions of playing primary on PC, I can no longer deal with this happening. Whenever I have the xbox one controller wireless adapter for PC plugged into
my pc, every few minutes I will lose connection to the internet. It took me a long time to notice that while this is occurring, if I click on the network icon in the taskbar, it will show me as connected to "ethernet 3" with no internet access. If I open up
network adapters, ethernet 3 and its MAC address belong to the xbox one controller wireless adapter. So essentially, my Windows 10 pc keeps thinking the xbox one wireless adapter is an ethernet adapter and will disconnect me from my primary ethernet connection
to try and use it. This will happen repeatedly until I unplug the xbox wireless adapter. This is extremely frustrating and hope someone has also dealt with this and knows how to fix it. Before microsoft copy/paste spams me to uninstall the driver and reinstall
it for the xbox controller wireless adapter, I have already done that no less than 5 times.

Xbox Wireless adapater stopped working and wired connection having major problems...

Simple fix: Get an extra long ethernet cable and run it to the xbox instead of trying to share through your PC.
Other Simple Fix: Get an Xbox One, or a new Xbox
Other other simple fix: buy a new wireless adapter.

Seriously dude, the fact you're using an external wireless adapter means you either have an elite, or older 360. It's time to upgrade that shit

    Xbox One wireless connectivity options

Are you not able to run an ethernet cable from you wireless adapter to your xbox? You said you are using a usb adapter with a usb cable. I don't believe that will work (if I'm understanding what you said). If you have a wireless adapter that has an ethernet connection, you can run an ethernet cable from the adapter to the xbox.

I have used a wireless adapter to connect my xbox for years without no issue. What I use has an ethernet connection on the adapter and then I run an ethernet cable to my xbox.

    This is what I'm using:

Connecting to Xbox Live with 802.1x

How do I determine which MAC I need? Because ipconfig /all gives a bunch of different physical addresses and I'm not sure which one to pick. I connect to the school's internet via WiFi, not Ethernet. Not sure which physical address/MAC is the correct one.

The options I have are: Wireless LAN adapter Local Area Connection* 12, Ethernet adapter Bluetooth Network Connection, Wireless LAN adapter WiFi (I think it's this one), Ethernet adapter Ethernet, Tunnel adapter 6TO4 Adapter, Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection*
    2, Tunnel adapter isatap.wireless.umass.edu...

I'm pretty sure it's the Wireless LAN adapter WiFi but I'm not sure. Thank you guys for the response. Keep the help coming!

    Wireless Error

Well I have the latest XBOX and router firmware and I have a datel wireless adapter for xbox and a wireless to ethernet adapter for xbox. Both work because I have tested them on my laptop. Also my router is not on the not supported list.

I think the problem is that my router does not work with my xbox. I have run my xbox through my laptop to wireless and it works fine. The only difference between the setup i used for my laptop to wireless and my wireless ethernet adapter is that the adapter
takes on the name of the device it is connected to.

I know this sounds stupid but my xbox does not come up as a device on my router (ie it has no name) this could mean something.

Also my router firewall has been detecting port scanner attacks at the same time as I am testing XBOX live on my xbox when I had it connected to my wireless adapter or wireless ethernet adapter but not my laptop.

connecting xbox 360 to wired network

It sounds like the network cable may not be fully plugged in. Normally when you have it plugged in it will automatically disable the wireless adapter if one is connected. It seems that it may be thinking you are connecting a wireless adapter such as the
Original Xbox Wireless Adapter MN-740 that connected to the console via an ethernet network cable.
