    Xbox One Wired Controller Not Working


    Hello,

    I had recently bought a wired controller made by Power iA (Xbox One). The controller worked perfectly when I first used it. But suddenly, the controller disconnected from the PC while I was using it (even though the thing was still plugged in)
    and even after putting it in several of my USB ports, the dammed thing wont work. Can anyone help fix this

    Was it the official Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller? For the Xbox 360 wireless controller, an adapter is required. For Xbox One, the original Xbox One controller will only work when wired. For the One S controller, you can connect it via bluetooth.

    I should also mention that there are times when it would magically turn on after minutes of pushing and shoving, and I am skeptical in regards to the article linked since it seem s like that might not the same circumstance.

    Xbox One and 360 wired controllers should work just by plugging them into the USB.

    I find the Afterglow wired controllers to be good quality at a reasonable price and comfortable to use.

    ^^Yep. A while before the Xbox One launch, MS was granted a patent on a wireless controller that turns into a wired one when connected with a cable.

    When the Xbox One controller is connected to the console via a USB cable, the commands are sent through the cable, rather than through wireless, and you can test that by removing the batteries and you'll find it still works. So, the answer to your question
    is almost certainly no, as there is no need for a separate wired controller as the one you already have already works as both a wired and wireless controller. :)

    Thanks MildewySundew70, worked like a charm. I've been at this for a couple of hours. New the controller worked on both my xbox and my other laptop, a Toshiba, but my alienware 14x wouldn't accept it. BTW my controller was a wired one. so it works one both
    wireless and wired.
