XBox One update on Xbox One X is frozen at 66% for a couple of hours... what should I do?

Woke up to an update frozen on the screen... tempted to shut off and restart but wanted to hear from someone who had been through it first? Any takers?

Probably just a matter of power cycling your console. If that's does not work id use the troubleshooting steps provided by the fellow ambassadors and the links. You can also try a offline update. Hope it works out!

Hello! Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart
the console.

It happened to me once. I waited a full 3 hours before I turned it off and then back on. The Xbox updated fine, what I think happened was that it updated but the update screen froze.

Usually, It will time out eventually and you can re try the update again. I would wait a but longer before power cycling the console or anything like that.
