Xbox one suddenly stopped working right

My brother turned his xbox one off and two hours later he tried to turn it on, it started to power up and then it was like someone hit the freeze button. It lights up just fine and makes the start up sound, but after that nothing
and no image on the screen. It stays lit and we can hear humming and clicking and it almost sounds like it's trying to read a disc but there are no discs in the system. He tried my hdmi cord on my tv and my power brick that I know work, the light on the brick
is white, but the video feed doesn't wanna work. I double checked and the cords work just fine on my system. We have tried to hard reset and it shuts the system off, but when it's turned on we are back at square one with it. It can't even read the controller
from wireless or wired. I don't know what to do, would really be grateful for any help that I can get, seeing as this is still a somewhat expensive system and all his data is still on it along with his xbox live account.
This system is about 2 years old and has never given any grief or issues before today, so any ideas would be appreciated.

Xbox One Chatpad suddenly stopped working

I purchased the Chatpad in January 2018, and it was working fine for a bit. All of a sudden the mic will not acknowledge me talking in Party Chat. If I plug headset directly into a xbox controller's 3mm jack, the mic seems to work fine. However, plug
it into the Chatpad's 3mm jack, and absolutely nothing. It does not work at all in Audio -> Stereo mode. I only get audio from the rest of the party if I use Audio -- Microsoft Sonic.

More details:

1. I am using an original Xbox One controller without the 3mm jack. That's the one the chatpad 3mm jack is no longer working with. Typing on the keypad works just fine. Mic does not work; and I cannot hear the Party.

2. I borrowed a friend's new Xbox One controller with a 3mm jack. That is the one where the mic only picks up from directly plugging in the headset to the controller. When using the chatpad, the keypad works fine; the mic does not pick up; and I am able
to hear the Party.

 

xbox one hardware failure rate ?

No issue with mine, and I only know of one friends X1 that suddenly stopped working ( would not power back on)
