Xbox one series x keeps switching from controller to mouse & key board

Hello Joe, does this only happen with Vanguard or some other game as well?

Have you tried some procedure in the console such as restarting, clearing the cache, or even resetting the console while keeping games and Apps.

This might be game dependent.

I have a Xbox One controller connected to my PC, and I can seamlessly change from keyboard and mouse to controller and back in Sea of Thieves and Destiny 2 for example.

When I wiggle the mouse in Sea of Thieves or Destiny 2, the game immediately switches the interaction prompts from controller buttons being displayed to actual keyboard keys, and if I move the controller, the game switches from "Press (keyboard key) F" to
"Press (Xbox Button X)" for example.

So it might be the game itself not allowing you to switch to mouse seamlessly. Are you able to go to the game settings and force the game to use your preferred input method?

The XBOX One does support Mouse & Keyboard but only for a handful of games at the moment such as Battlefield V which I use a Mouse & Keyboard on one but I switched back to the controller because the were more keys to push than buttons on the controller.

the game its self is not hard its using the controller that is hard if i had a mouse and key board would not be a problem lol this controller is now my nemesis

While xbox supports the use of mouse and key board there are games such as rainbow six and fortnite that publicly state that if you use a mouse and key board on a console to play their games it is considered cheating. I believe fornite now has it to
where if you use a mouse and key board you are put with other mouse and keyboards as they are a cross platform game.



The problem is, while R6 states that it is cheating to use a M+K, there isn't really anything they can do to stop it. There are people out there selling devices making the console think you are using a controller when you aren't. So even if they patch
it to make it where you cant use a M+K the developer can update it and make their device work again.
