In recent weeks, I've been noticing that my Xbox One Series S has been showing an odd habit of randomly not receiving the IP address for my wireless network, even though all my other devices are connecting with no problems whatsoever. How can I keep this from constantly happening on a regular basis?

How many other devices are connected to your network hardware?

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you with your concern.

We may need to perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware, John to refresh the connection between your Xbox and your router/modem. Please follow the steps below:

" 1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

    2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

    3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

    4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state."

Cannot stream Xbox one by internet

    Hello Darrtoes,

Thank you for keeping us updated. Did you set up a static IP address on your Xbox One when you completed port forwarding? It is possible that the IP address of the console changed. A majority of the time, the console will use a dynamic IP address. This is
the type of IP address that is subject to change. We recommend checking the IP address of the console in the advanced settings of the

    network settings.
Make sure the IP address matches the IP address that is entered on your router settings for port forwarding. If the IP address on the console is different from the one on the router, we suggest updating the IP address on the console. We
will provide steps on how to set up a static IP address on the console. Be sure to let us know the results!

How to set up a static IP address:

    • Press the Xbox button on the controller to pull up the guide
    • Go to the Settings
    • Select Network
    • Select Network Settings
    • Select Advanced Settings
    • Take a picture of this screen
    • Select IP Settings
    • Select Manual
    • Enter all the information that is required by using the photo (You can choose to use 8.8.8.8 for the primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the Secondary DNS)

    connection

If you are using a wireless connection, make sure that you are connecting to your wireless network and have entered the correct password. An incorrect password might make it look like your console is connected to your wireless network, but your console will
    not receive an IP address.

On your console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.

    Select Network Settings.

If you are prompted to select a network, do one of the following:

Select your wireless network name, and then press Y on your controller to disconnect from your wireless network.

Select your wireless network name and enter the wireless password when prompted.

If you still can?t connect move to solution 4.

    Select Configure Network.

Note If the IP address begins with 169 or appears as 0.0.0.0, your console is not getting a valid IP address. Continue following the steps below, and make sure to enter the correct wireless network password.

On the Basic Settings tab, select Wireless Mode.

    Select Scan for Networks.

Enter your wireless network password, and then select Done.

Press B on your controller, and then test your connection.

Because automatic IP settings didn't work, let's try setting the IP address manually. First, we need to obtain your computer?s IP settings.

To obtain your computer?s IP settings

On your computer, click Start, type cmd in the search box, and then press ENTER.

Note If you?re using Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.

At the prompt, type ipconfig, and then press ENTER.

Find your network connection. (For example, look for "Local Area Connection" or "Wireless Network Connection.")

Note the numbers for the following items:

    IP address (or IPv4 address)

    Subnet mask

    Default gateway

Make up a unique IP address for your Xbox 360 console and write it down. For example, add 10 to the last number of your computer?s default gateway address. (For example, if your computer?s address is 192.168.1.1, use 192.168.1.11 for your console?s IP address.)

Note Each IP address on your network must be unique.

Now let?s set your console?s IP settings.

To set your Xbox 360 console?s IP settings

On your console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.

    Select Network Settings.

Select WiredNetwork or the name of your wireless network, if you are prompted to do so.

    Select Configure Network.

On the Basic Settings tab, select IP Settings.

    Select Manual.

    Select IP Address.

Enter the unique IP address that you made up, and then select Done.

Select Subnet Mask, enter your computer?s subnet mask, and then select Done.

Select Gateway, enter your computer?s default gateway, and then select Done.

    Select Done.

Press B on your controller and then test your connection again.
