    Xbox one S won't turn on, makes a faint clicking noise when plugged in.


    I have a Gears of War 4, 2TB Xbox One S that will not power on.

    When plugged in, it makes a faint clicking noise, the power button does nothing.

    I have tried unplugging it for 30 seconds, as well as over-night.

    It is still using the original power cord it came with, it is set up in a well-ventilated area.

    Until is stopped working it saw daily usage for youtube or watching movies or gaming, anywhere from 2-12 hours a day Since September 2016.

    I want to re-inforce, the console does not power on, immediately upon being plugged in to the wall, the xbox makes a faint clicking sound and pressing the power button does nothing. No lights come on, no additional noise from the console, no output on the screen.

    I have taken all of the trouble-shooting steps offered in the support section that the support bot links me to. The console has been out of warranty since September 2017.

    Hello Poe, you've tried all the procedures I could suggest, in case Microsogt has paid repair service for the Xbox One S, however I don't think they should have this version of the console in stock.

    My suggestion is that you look for some specialized console technical assistance so they can help you.

    kinect adapter for xbox one s ringing noise while turn on

    ok so I have bought a kinect adapter for the xbox one s gears of war edition.

    This is while the xbox is on. Everytime I plug the adapter in when the kinect one is on. I get a really loud rining noise while it's on. Sometimes the kinect doesn't pick up what I say, from the ringing.

    Now if I go to settings then shut off the kinect, but still plugged in. There will be a faint ringing. The noise is there. Regardless if the console is on or not.

    I wish I stayed with the xbox one. Never a ringing noise, as the kinect hooks up with the xbox.
    I am experiencing the same problem. My adapter worked great for the first week or two, but today i noticed it making a ringing sound. i checked it out and its extremely hot! even looks like an area the size of a dime is melting, ive tried letting it cool
    off and turning it back on but the problem persists.

    I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your console.

    • Do you have any external devices plugged into your console's USB ports?

    • Is your power supply plugged directly into one of the wall's outlets? if it's not, could you try switching to one?

    If it's already plugged into one of the wall's outlets and your console still won't turn on, would you mind giving this a try?

    - Unplug your power supply unit from both the console and the outlet for 5 - 10 minutes.
    - Plug the power supply back into the outlet only.
    - Take note of your power supply's LED indicator's color and behavior.
    - Plug your power supply back into the console.
    - Check the power supply's LED indicator again to see if there have been any changes.

    Please let me know what you see when you do this, I'll be looking forward to your reply.

    X1 making noises while off

    Mine makes a faint ticking noise. I think it's just he fan. If your worried about saving energy, turn on energy saving mode to turn your box completely off.
