    Xbox one s won’t read 360 games


    The xbox is new and the games are backwards compatible. I could play them a few days ago but now the discs won’t read. It’s only 360 games and the discs are clean and scratch free. I’ve already tried a power cycle and factory resetting the xbox and it did nothing.

    We understand the inconvenience caused. As per description, you encountered issues playing on backward compatible games. You have tried a power cycle and resetting the console but still the problem persists. Let us check on this together and sort this out. We will assist you with your concern to help you back to gaming.

    However, we’d like to know more about it in details so that we can provide a more accurate resolution for you. To start, please provide us information/answer on the following questions:

    1. Recent activity or changes made before the issue appeared?
    2. Have you check that all the game discs are backward compatible?
    3. Does it just show Play Disc on the Home screen or nothing at all? Backwards compatible games even if you have the disc require a download in order to play them. When you click play disc it should prompt a download as long as you are connected to Xbox live.
    So far, from the details you provided, you can try the following steps and let us know the result. You can just skip those you have done already.

    • Turn on your Xbox One console.
    • Navigate to System>Settings>System>Console Info.
    • Click Reset Console and click the Reset and keep my games & apps
    • A process will begin, and your Xbox console will automatically restart.
    • After restarting the system, insert the game that caused the “Xbox One backwards compatibility not working” error, and hope that the game can be played now!
    If it doesn't, then I would recommend trying out the steps outlined in the Xbox backward compatibility FAQ | Xbox Support. Follow the steps through this support article to see if they'll resolve the issue. I would also double check the Backwards Compatibility list to make sure those games are on there.

    Hi, thanks for your reply. I’m trying to install an Xbox Live profile. For xbox 360. Gears. On series S. Reinstalling. I read to clear cache. Then sign in. I think retroarch is in the windows store. On dev mode. So, it’s safe? I won’t erase Dev Mode? Thanks again!
