Xbox one. S will. Not. Open .exe file. For new programs

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are currently experiencing difficulties with being able to open exe. files on your console.

How are you acquiring these files? Are you using an external storage to get this app on your console, or downloading them via alternative means?

The Xbox One console used to have an app called File Explorer, however,
this app was removed due to limited usage. You may be able to find other apps on the Store that provide a similar function, however, using these comes at your own discretion.

I'm sorry about any confusion or turmoil this might have caused.

Where are you downloading .exe files from? Are these PC downloads onto an external drive or games are not loading up after they have been downloaded via the Xbox One store?

Are you able to provide more information on what .exe file you are trying to open.

The Xbox One does not support .exe files. .exe files are only supported on Windows.

No, there is nosuch thing as an “exe file opener”

An Xbox is not a PC, nor can it work as one despite sharing some common components. It also cant run PS4 games despite them sharing much in common.

If you wish an open platform, you need to buy a PC
