Xbox One S turning on multiple TVs upon boot up and entering sleep

Hi everyone its my first time posting on the microsoft forums! So I noved back from college about a month ago and recently pulled out my Xbox and hooked it up to my 65’ Samsung Curved TV from 2014. I also put my college tv in the same room where the 65’
sits. The college tv is a Samsung 4K 40” from 2017. So everytime boot up my xbox on the 65. The 40 which isnt even connected to the Xbox, turns on. How do I stop this from happening without losing the tv auto on function entirely?

    :)

Should the XBOX ONE be left plugged into a power source?

The Xbox One has 2 different "off" modes and you can choose between them in the settings.

One option turns the system fully off (almost). Just like the 360, the console turns off, the light on the PSU changes colour, and the fan in the PSU stops spinning. There is a small bit of power draw as obviously it needs that so you can turn it back on
with your controller. When you turn the console back on, the boot up time is slow, as it's like cold booting a PC.

The other option puts the Xbox One into a kind of sleep mode. When you turn the console off, the power supply light stays white and the fan in it will continue to run (unfortunately). While it's asleep, the console can download game and system updates, the
console will control your other electronics such as your TV, AV receiver or cable box, and you can say "Xbox on" to wake the console up. Also, in future, you'll be able to suspend the state of your games so you can instantly wake the Xbox One up and carry
on from where you left off (that feature is available now, but it's still in beta). Booting up the system is much faster in this mode, as it only takes 10-15 seconds.

As for which is better, it depends. Turning the console fully off means it consumes less power when it's turned off, but you lose access to the features that the sleep mode provides. Using the sleep option means that you get the cool features and fast boot
up, but the console draws much more power (still not a huge amount though!) and it means your PSU is on all the time.

Here's the power consumption figures: -

Xbox turned off (but not unplugged from the wall obviously!) = 0.22 Watts

Xbox in sleep mode = 15.3 Watts

One S never connects to network first boot - always have to restart

I have the same issue. I have determined it has to do with Sleep Mode. If I use Sleep Mode, I cannot power it up and connect to the Xbox One S from Windows 10. If I change it from Quick Boot to Energy Saving, then It works every time.

When in quick boot my TV always has a signal even when the Xbox is "sleeping".

XBOX ONE turns on my TV but after a couple of seconds it turns off again

I am having a similar problem. I say "XBOX ON", the light comes on the Xbox One, the tv and stereo turn on then the Xbox One turns off. It then will only turn on by pressing the button on the front and appears to go through a full boot process. Once the
Kinect boots, it then turns off my tv.

    problems with set up update

I don't think the other people who replied understand what you are asking because I'm having the same problem. My brand new Xbox One S is going to sleep/turning off DURING the straight out the box initial set up update. Not AFTER it's fully downloaded the
update and it auto restarts. And when I turn the Xbox one back on, the initial set up update starts over. You can't get to the settings yet to set it to download even when the console is off/sleep because it can't get past the initial set up update. Nobody
has time to sit in front of the TV for hours, wiggling the controller sticks every 5 mins to keep the controller/Console from going to sleep partially through the Initial setup update and having to start over. It's been 3 days and I haven't been able to play
one single game yet on my new Xbox One S. Is there any way to prevent this?
