Xbox one s startup issues

So back in December of 2016, I got the Battlefield One edition of the S and it worked fine. But about 6 months later I had issues with it being super slow and crashing so I factory reset it and it worked fine for several months until now. I had brought it
to and from a friend's house and hadn't toched it or even plugged it in for several days and when I did, it would turn on but my screen would say no signal. I switched HDMI cables twice and still the same thing. I plugged in into a different TV downstairs
and it worked fine for while then it crashed. It went back to the no signal thing for about a day. Then I unplugged it and plugged it back in for like the 20th time and it magically came on. Again, it crashed. The next day I took it back upstairs and it worked
fine. I turned on low power mode and didn't turn it off for two days fearing it wouldn't come back on. I turned it off and it went back to no signal and nothing is working. I've tried power cycling, booting it into low resolution, unplugging it and holding
the power button. Everything. It still won't come on. Tryna get some solutions so I don't have to ship it to Microsoft and not have a system for a month.

Xbox one startup issues

I turn on the xbox and it goes to the usual green screen. Then it moves into the black screen and doesn't do anything else. How do I resolve this problem?

We appreciate you reaching out to us with this issue. This sounds like you might be having some power issues. We want to make sure that you have been plugging your console into a wall outlet and never into a surge protector or a power strip. These can damage
your console or blow out a fuse inside your console that would require a repair. If this sounds like it could be the case, be sure to

My friend has the same issue. He has a Xbox One S but he has the same issue with minecraft. Long startup times but runs any other game smoothly.

I've tested this yesterday at a friend's house and it had the same issue.

First time it booted fine, probably because it hadn't been connected to power for over an hour, but after shutting it down, waiting a couple of hours and trying again it reproduced the exact same issue.

Would there be anything else worth a try?

Hey Steven,

I read over the thread and that is a very interesting issue. What it seems to be doing is the software is somehow forcing your Xbox to recreate the Xbox Troubleshooter which is what you need to do in the event that you can't access your settings or an Offline
System update is needed. However to bring up that screen, you need to manually press the BIND, EJECT, and POWER button simultaneously and it makes two chime noises before the Xbox boots up to that screen. So the software is re-creating that process and forcing
that screen to show up without any manual input during the startup.

The work around that you mentioned leads me to believe that potentially the power supply on the Xbox may be contributing to this as the Xbox seems to work after you power cycle it and reset the power unit. Most people have the console set to Instant-On power
mode and since this issue is during startup, that's another indicator that leads me to believe the power supply to your console is not efficient and it's forcing the software to pull up the incorrect thing and reset your Xbox. Also the fact that you've factory
reset your Xbox both ways and the issue comes back can also be pointed towards some hardware failure with the Xbox's power supply.

I would suggest to power cycle your Xbox and try another outlet, but if the issue persists then I would start considering a possible repair.

Hi,

Thank your for your suggestion,

I decided to move all installed games and apps to the external HD, when they were all moved I tried restarting it just in case, and for some reason the issue seems to be gone. I haven't done a full reset yet, I don't think there's any point to it right now,
but if ever the issue would come back, it will be the first thing I try.
