Xbox One S resetting passkey

I bought an XBOX One S at a local pawn shop, it came with an external drive for added memory. I hooked it up and when I went to set up my profile, it asked me for the previous users passkey.....I have no idea what the passkey might be. Is there a way to
reset the passkey without having to factory reset the whole system?

I believe that only with the factory reset, see with the support which procedures are indicated in this case, good luck!

I have a similar problem. Can't change the family passkey and can't play mature games. Did tube videos to figure out what to do, went through Microsoft and did everything they said including a reformat and still no luck. Suggestions please...

Hey, I would recommend starting a new thread as this sounds like a problem with an Xbox 360, not an Xbox One.

You'd want to factory reset the console at this point to wipe out the previous account and all content owned by them, since you wouldn't have any legal access to that content anyway. Then, you'll be able to set it up as your own. Under normal circumstances,
the system will allow three failed attempts to enter the passkey, then it will prompt for the account's password as a backup. Since you won't know that, the best option is to factory-reset the device and wipe it. You can do this from the Settings menu … Settings
-> System -> Reset console -> Don't keep games and apps.
