Xbox One S is stuck in 640x480 resolution mode. Date 9/21/19

Does anyone know of any solutions on how to fix an (Xbox S) that's stuck in 640x480 resolution mode?

I've tried a hard reset, soft reset, using different HDMI cables, multiple televisions, switching for auto detect to HDMI, switching from 640 to 1080, holding down the eject and xbox button to reset the resolution and even soft resetting via usb. Nothing
seems to work. The console was working fine two days ago. There's been no damage or outside contributing factors that would harm the system. Which leads me to believe that it was engineered to break on its own. Just like many of the other xbox consoles I've
owned in the past.

Sending it in for "repairs" usually only means that I would have to pay $179 US to receive a refurbished system that will eventually break a few months later. Something I'm sure many of us have experienced in the past. I hope Microsoft provides an ethical
and convenient solution to these circumstances.

Dang, it's not looking so good is it ? The only other thing I could suggest before going down the repair route is to take a close look at the HDMI port on the Xbox. Examine it closely, do you see any damaged connectors on that port at all ?

Finally give the port a good blow out to remove any dirt etc that may be causing a bad contact, take a Q-Tip and very gently give the contacts on the end of the HDMI connector a clean using isopropyl alcohol if you have any or if not then try one of those
wipes you'd use to clean spectacles and wipe as much of the contacts as you can taking care not to snag the contacts during the process.

Your issue isn't a rare one and often will require some sort of repair be that by Microsoft or not.

Hey jambo! Just to clarify this problem was after a update? Did you move the console? Or something?

You can try this...

go to TV display settings on your TV and set the aspect ratio and to 60hz, then on your Xbox match these settings on the video output menu, rests both TV and xbox "hard reset" and the issue should be solved.

How long does the screen stay black ? There will be a pop up on screen asking you to confirm the choice of display output, if you miss that it will revert back to previous settings. Maybe you're not seeing that so when you choose the output resolution
and while the screen is black press left on the DPAD once then press A to see if that makes the Xbox keep your choice of output.
