Xbox One S - Headset not working and Mic has cross through icon

    Hi Support,

I bought an Xbox One S a couple of days ago and I have been using my android headphones plugged into the Xbox One S 3.5mm controller socket fine up until tonight. Now it's stopped working (audio through head phones and the mic) and the Xbox has a cross through
    a mic icon.

The odd thing is the headphones and the other controller are fine, audio and the mic both working perfectly through the second Xbox One S controller I got with the console.

I've tried everything I could find online, hard reset, resetting console to factory defaults, unregistering controller, trying a firmware update on controller but nothing has helped. As I said the other controller is working fine with the headset, I can
see online that lots of people are perhaps having the same issue with the Xbox One S controllers but there is no fix known.

Can anyone help please? Should I just send the controller in for replacement or take the whole lot back to the shop as its so new?

    Thanks in advance,

    Tim

    :)

Xbox Mute icon / Mic not working

I purchased and Xbox One s , & extra Controller just over a month ago. In the corner of the screen by the battery Icon the headset/Mic symbol has a line through it to suggest it is muted. I have been through every setting possible and tried everyones suggestions
from the forum sites , and yet the icon is still there and my Headset & Mic are not working.... How do i resolve this ??

The headset & mic work perfectly fine on another device and on an Iphone , so they are not at fault, so why when plugging them in the 3.5 jack port , they are not being picked up ?

At some stage the headset and mic were working fine on both controllers, but now they are not working on either controller ??

Please can someone help solve the issue ?

    Xbox One Headset Adapter Problems

I have a turtle beach px21 headset and purchased the xbox one headset adapter. The stereo sound is coming through really well, but the mic isn't working with it. Is this a known issue or is my headset mic not compatible with the xbox one?

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the
    console.

Make sure the controller is fully updated with the headset attached.

I that doesn't work try exchanging the controller.

    Hello TimShawUk,

    Chat Adapter

I have had this exact problem in the past. The only way to 'fix' the issue is just by purchasing a new chat adapter. I learned that the reason behind the cross going through the Xbox logo is that there was a short circuit in the chat adapter that led for
the light to stay on. The chat adapters are relatively inexpensive but fixed my problem when purchasing a new one.

Once the chat adapter light is on, as of now, there isn't a way to turn it off but replacing it.

    Hope this helps!

Hi there - thanks for the suggestion. I'm not using a chat adaptor I'm just using a standard pair of new in ear headphones that came with my mobile phone plugged in via the 3.5mm Jack.

They are working perfectly in the other controller so I'm guessing maybe something has broken inside the other somehow.

    Hello again Tim,

Thank you for your response. My apologies for not understanding the correct type of accessory you were using.

    Controller Warranty

Since you mentioned that it works with another controller, it could most likely be something wrong with the controller. If your controller is still relatively new, you can follow the steps below to see if it is something with your controller.

If it is within the 90 day purchasing period, you can register your controller with Microsoft Device Services. Make sure you are signed in
to your Microsoft account to begin and select 'Register a new device.'

From here, you need to remove the battery compartment on the controller and look for a serial number. Once you have located the serial number, go ahead and enter it in followed by some additional information that pertains to your device.

Once finished, select 'Create a Repair Code' and ensure that you have inputted your mailing address. After that, there will be some specific information on how to mail in your controller for either a repair or a complete replacement.

Hope this helps you in solving your issue!
