xbox one S HDD dead, how do i put the OS on a new one?

You would send the console to Microsoft to be repaired. Self repair is a violation of the terms of service and as such, cannot be discussed here.

You can buy a 250 gb hdd that will fit any older 360. The new "S" system has a 250 gb hdd, but it is really small and it doesn't fit like the old ones. It pops
into the side as opposed to on it. I'm guessing the new 320 gb hdd is the same as the one on the newer "S" 360.

i found out the hdd was dead. i bought a new one and used a program on windows to format the disk. my new problem is the offline update option isnt available. ive tried many flash drives yet with no outcome, "osu1" was installed on all of them and had been formatted to ntfs. is there any way to copy the os directly from the hdd?

ok thanks I already have that somewhere. So do I need to put the new one in then transfer it or do it before putting in the new hdd

That is right,you can't put an old HDD on the xbox 360 S.

Both xbox have different HDDs and are not compatible.

And copying the stuff to your new HDD is no problem,like you can read in the post under yours.

And i would also prefer to buy a new one,and then the big 250gb,before you get angry in some time because it is full
