Xbox One S HDD damaged?

Basically the top of my xbox got hit pretty hard and since then I cant play games off my external or internal hard drives. I just keep getting the “game took too long to start” error. My games still show up when I plug in the external drive, they just
wont start. Apps like Netflix and Hulu still work just fine though. I’ve also tried hard resets and power cycling the system. Does anybody have any ideas as to what the issue might be?

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

Like everyone else said, power cycle your console first and take it from there.

Have a look at this Reddit post . It mentions having Instant on setting. Try changing to Power saving mode and power
cycle again and see how that goes.
